Insane...congrats on being awesome. :peace

I avoid movie threads like the plague...but are the new ones suppose to have revamped character designs?

The last thing I read was that Marky Mark said it's a total reboot. But that kind of contradicts what I had heard before (sequel with new humans). :dunno

I'm down for whatever. I have come to accept the movies for what they are (stupid) and appreciate the designs that I do like, disregard the rest. It all just adds up to more TF popularity to me, which is a good thing.

The movies were ok, I still love the first one. The toys from the lines were still some of my favorite to date.

I still throw them on sometimes when I'm drawing. Animation and compositing are amazing. I have come to really like some of the designs, like DOTM Megatron. Would LOVE a Leader Class figure of him. My main gripe is that they invest so much time, effort and money into the technical stuff, stunts, artistry, but the foundation - the scripts - are almost incomprehensibly stupid at times.

But honestly, I've voiced my critiques before and don't even think about it anymore. :peace Plus, I quite like the Prime tv show and without the movies that wouldn't exist. I'm happy that the movies have been so successful. It's kind of a miracle they were made at all.

EDIT: Also, some of the movie toys are great!

I think Buster Prime is one of the most visually appealing toys ever. The quality paint brought out the detail of the mold. The paint makes so much of a difference. So many molds look amazing but when Hasbro throws on their poor paint apps, it really detracts from it.

I'm in "re-buy Buster Prime but with Jet power add on" mode right now.

View attachment 56699I just received my 1:1 movie matrix of leadership.

Ooohhh, spiffy!

Unfortunately, internet "fandom" in general seems to have turned into a negativity hive mind. I think the real hobby to a lot of people is to be the first to identify why a new product is a failure. I've said it before but I really wonder how many people here (and it sounds like elsewhere) actually buy and enjoy the products they spend hours dissecting and complaining about. It's led to this Hater vs. Apologist generalization that makes discussion tiresome.

Luckily there are still some good peeps that make it worth participating still.

Nice Prime, Dubs - haven't seen you around here in a while. Keep up the good work. :duff

Yes, i agree with this statement. Its like everyone has to "Review" everything now, like they are a professional offering a service of in-depth critique about every last ball joint or screw or something.

What i don't get are the people who turn every purchase into a life or death, almost philosophical debate about "should i buy this toy? Can i justify the price for this design" or "should i not buy this toy? i cant justify this that and whatever".

I get making a choice is important, but man it isn't quantum mechanics!

Then you get the third party elitists who crap on every single Hasbro release just because its official and offer no loyalty to the very brand they apparently love so much in the first place, and then complain when they don't release certain toys in their country, or make better ones or what not.

Thanks, im not awesome im just an artist, but i appreciate the compliment!

As for the designs, no one knows for sure yet. I hope they retain the current aesthetic, just with a few upgrades like Prime got in DOTM.

Quoted for truth. And if you get down to it, there are much worse toy movies out there (G.I. Joe anyone, Battleship) Compared to those the TF movies (except ROTF) look like high-brow Shakespearean quality flicks. (always thought he was overrated anyway lol)

People expect too much i reckon. Its a movie about toys basically, toys that turn from cars into robots...what are you expecting? The next Martin Scorsese or Stanley Kubrick classic? :slap

I wish i had a Buster Prime...i can easily paint up a leader Prime and make him look better than Buster Prime but there's something about getting a toy that already looks awesome from the factory that customs never manage to capture for me.

Im making a jet power masterpiece movie Prime next in fact. I could make one for you too if you want.

I've got Buster, was tempted to get the APS Stiker, but just too expensive for a remold, if it was $50 cheaper I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Am tempted to get the FWI-03 Jetfire parts.

I just bought Buster. As well, I purchased the chromed out jetpack parts from the black version of the DOTM Prime to get my shine on.

Really?

You stay away from the thread for months and within your first few posts back you're trying to start this crap AGAIN?

I buy 3rd party Transformers and Takara Masterpieces for the following reason,

I prefer them to anything else.

The End.

most customizers are against 3rd party. mainly because it impacts their business.

example. when was the last time you saw someone make a custom devastator that sells for a grand?

Ordered the Cubex guns as well? I ordered a set of chromed ones.

Sweet those guns rock, i might buy some too one day.

I dont run a business so i dont care, i just dont like most of the products because they are too expensive for what they are.

That's first class work Dub! Good to see you back on the boards :)

Thank you.

Corsair: You need to stop thinking everyone's out to get you. Im not talking about you, ok? Peace.

I said most Dubs, not all. You ( as far as i know ) don't do customs as a living.

There are a few customizers, who will remain nameless, who have publicly stated that they felt this way.

And I do agree, they ARE very pricey. though you've got to bear in mind they're making far more limited runs than Has/tak are, so this means the price of the figure goes up to cover the cost of production.

I envy those that can customize. They can make any figure they want.

Sort of...we don't all possess the same level of skill...some of us can build from scratch really well but cant paint for ****, others can paint like masters but cant build anything from scratch (like me, i suck at scratch building, and i don't claim to be a master painter, im just better at painting than building) so we're not that lucky. Then you have to consider what access we have to resources, which in my case due to my geographical location is hardly anything.

I can name at least 3 off the top of my head, you probably wont need any guesses to figure out who i mean ;)

Only one I've seen who said that is Jin, and he's a bit of a blowhard white knight.

FR has publicly stated how much of a god he thinks he is and how much better of a person to you and I he apparently is because he paints toys, he has admitted to me in private he only cares about making as much money as possible, so it wouldn't surprise me if he spoke out in public about third parties trampling in on his oh so important profits as well.

I've been surprised by Jin's behavior lately...i always thought he was a decent person but some of his views, about customizing or otherwise are just downright asinine.

What's a "white knight" exactly anyway?
