TFC pulling the same "rage of hercules" scheme with uranos...

That looks a lot better! But I hate the fact that TFC are milking people for more money when they should have just added these accessories originally. At least I'll know what to expect for their Predaking release.

So what's the general consensus guys? TFC or MMC Predaking?

That's a good question. I have the first 2 from MMC on preorder. But I have to admit that I like the look of TFC's Nemean. The good thing with all these 3rd party Predakings is that it'll hopefully keep the cost of these figures lower than usual.

I got few of those kre-o minicombiner figures, and those are actually my first kre-o TF-toys. They looked fun and the price is not that bad. However, I must say that the quality is far from Lego for example. I had many blocks that are just loose. I couldn't even connect those "hands" for my Devastator, because those just kept falling off. But all in all those minifigures aren't that bad.

Man, I also visited local TRU and the transformers shell looks just sad...pfff...there were like ten misc. prime/beast hunters toys. No sign of any MP toys whatsoever. Nothing special either  Toystores are so lame nowadays. My friend wanted to have angry bird pillow and what do you know; there were those stupid birds alright (no pigs though).

The nice thing about Kreo is that their minifigs pose out a little nicer by only having one waist peg and socketed shoulders, the downside is their sets suck especially when compared to Lego sets of similar costs. I wouldn't have guessed that their brick maker has been doing this for decades. The main problem most have with their combiner kits are how weak the assembled combiner looks, but you can find instructions to beef them up on Transformer websites and make them look much better.

Soooo...which is this? The MMC or TFC version? If so, anyone got pics of the other? This is all I seem to be able to find??

Thanks in advance!

herer it is

Thanks Lerath :D I think my money will be on this bad boy. Surely TFC won't be able to top this?! It's proportions are spot on and just about looks perfect.
I've always loved this combiner over all the others. I think it's the way its more skewed toward traditional Japanese mecha thats been the draw for me.

^thats what I thought too but I already prefer TFC's Razorclaw over MMC's. Plus, it'll be bigger which is good news because I want the biggest Predaking there is.

TFC's will undoubably be bigger. though, I've got Their Herculese... and I'm not happy about his pelvis joint. the gears srtip apart, so he's not able to support his own weight. there is a aftermarket 50$ fix of metal hip gears... but still for the price he cost, i shouldn't have to.
Additionaly, he has some issues pegging together. I recently got Green Giant, and Overal, I'm much happier with him. TFC tends to do AMAZING vehichle modes and Awesome looking combiner modes, with varying results on teh Bot modes.

MMC is getting my money. ESPECIALY with teh pics of the other arm today.

Hate to bring up an old post, but this is a pretty cool looking variant of megatron. I'm hoping we get a new MP version of megatron that is importable without a mod

Since the MP line was rebooted with the new version of Optimus the major omission has been a Megatron that's correctly scaled to it.

Takara make the molds primarily with the Japanese market in mind and the gun laws in Japan aren't an issue.

Masterpiece Megatron V2 will turn into a gun.

If Takara release it next year as part of their 30th Anniversary plans another release of the MP10 mold is inevitable, either a straight reissue of the MP10 set or a new edition possibly without the trailer.

Hasbro won't touch a Megatron that turns into a gun which would restrict their options for the 30th to another release of Prime or yet another Seeker unless they pay Lamborghini and Nissan for the licenses to sell the Autobot cars in the US and Europe.

That is of course assuming that this year's release of Acid Storm and the ensuing poor sales doesn't sink the Hasbro Masterpiece line altogether.

Prime V2 = No brainer. He'll always be popular.

Soundwave and tapes = No brainer. Soundwave's eyes may be piss yellow on the Hasbro version but he's still a very popular character and including all 5 tapes makes the set good value for money.

Acid Storm = Nobody gives a crap. A non character who was basically invented to sell extra repaints.

Bringing Megatron V2 over and facing the ensuing media s**tstorm would make more sense than Hasbro's decision to release Acid Storm.

Damn, I am impressed to hell with these KO.....errrr.....

3rd party offerings!!

(Just kidding guys, just kidding, calm down)

But seriously, that's some impressive stuff.

Did they ever attempt to make their own MPs? And by that, I mean like...their own version of hot rod? Ultra Magnus? I also mean Based on G1.

Finally, do they take commissions? I would kill for an MP styled TFP optimus.

What constitutes a "third party MP" is really just a matter of opinion, for the most part.

FansToys' version of Shockwave, "Quakewave", is considered a Masterpiece figure - and possibly even BETTER than official MPs - by most of those who own one. Personally, I passed on it because I think Takara could still do better and it's a character I could see them doing at some point (though admittedly, I would be up for trading for one).

iGear's versions of Thrust, Ramjet and Dirge could be considered MP figures. They're quite obviously directly copied from the old MP-03 Starscream mold. Ditto Faith Leader, if you like a somewhat smaller version of Prime (a direct copy of the MP-01 mold).

iGear's Weapons and Medical Specialists (Ironhide and Ratchet, respectively) are nearly there... I had them in my MP display for a long time, but eventually sold them. They just aren't G1 accurate enough for me, now that Takara's started to do MP versions of the other Autobot cars.

I've still got iGear's Hench (Brawn) and XTransbots' Glider (Powerglide) displayed with my MPs and they fits in nicely in terms of scale and looks. Sure, neither of them are "MP quality" in terms of design (especially Glider), but they look the part, which is good enough for me. I will be adding iGear's Cogz (Gears) when he gets released, too.

Finally, do they take commissions? I would kill for an MP styled TFP optimus.

There are some customizers out there that could do that sort of thing for you, but it'd be expensive... I've never heard of a third party company doing commissions but I suppose if you're rich enough and willing to back a project financially, why not? :)

Wow, thanks for the very thorough response. I did see a few of those Ironsides and ratchets here and there, and just like you, i felt that they were nice, but not quite there just yet. I'm positive TT will get to them eventually.

But man....I want TFP MP...dammit!!

Hot damn MMC's and TFC's versions look the business. Each one has good points. I'm back to scratching my head as to which one to commit to!!

Last question; where is the best place to PO the figures as they're released?

what pegging issues you speak of Lerath?
On herc? mostly with the upper and lower torso's in combined mode. they fight mew, and never completely peg together. He holds together just fine, just has unsightly gaps that irratate teh crap out of me.

Captured prey if you don't mind paying up front. Good prices, great Customer service.

Big bad toy store if you want to pay later.

I tend to avoid TFsource due to shady business practices, and less than steller site security.

Yeah... I really doubt it'll happen, though. :)

Other than the movies, I think the only other Transformers series that has even a slight chance at the MP treatment is Beast Wars. Even then, probably not.
