are there any color scheme difference on the tapes for the hasbro ver compared to the takara ver?

Yes looks like Buzzsaw has gone from being almost gold to canary yellow...

Hasbro -

Not a huge difference but I definitely notice it.

Other than that all looks ok to me

Loving the Hasbro MP Soundwave. Gives more bang for the buck if you're not too bothered by the Yellow eyes and lighter blue paint.

The hasbro version of rumble have a more accurate (though not show accurate) chest nipple thingy. Takara's are black which isnt accurate at all. Shouldnt their knees supposed to have red parts? Funny how the original g1 got it correct.

Still have to decide where to order my second Prowl and Smokescreen from. Takara is really hitting these things out of the park aren't they!? Wonder if we will get a reveal of MP20 in the next few days.

It's very impressive, even Smokescreen's gun is different!

Takara took a bit of a gamble by making a lower tier character with a fully licensed alt mode ( Sideswipe ) but it's paying off big time which bodes well for the future of the line....the better the sales, the more money they have to pay for other licenses.

The only thing that bugs me is those sponsors on Smokescreen as they weren't present from the G1 toy or animation model, they look like the sort of crappy detail Hasbro would add and IMO should have been left to Reprolabels.

That said, their existence does show what would happen with other cars with real world sponsors eg,

"Gitanes" will be "Citanes" on Mirage.

If the Porsche and Lancia licenses are obtained,

"Martini" would be "Meister" on Jazz.

"Alitalia" would be "Alitalla" on Wheeljack and "Marlboro" would be "Marlboor" if they did a Diaclone variant.

One other small detail I'm wondering if Takara will rectify for the production version are the mirrors on Smokescreen as they weren't on the actual car.

"Smoke Effect" should be "Electramotive" ( The team name. )

"Devcon Oil" should be "Don Devendorf" ( Driver's name. )

"Slot Fever" should be "Goodyear"

"Huck" should be "Bosch"

"Disturbance" should be "Valvoline"

It's odd that Takara put those on but for some reason ignored the multiple uses of Nissan or Datsun on the real car even though they have the license.

I think it would have looked much better with just the number 38 on the doors.

But I'll get used to it in time, the overall job with the retooling is incredible.

Yeah, Metroplex is okay. I'm thinking I might pass though - just no room for him.

Maybe if on clearance, though.

As for Perceptor... yeah, I guess he looks decent, but looking at these robot pics I don't think it's THAT great of a leap from the RTS/United mold, especially if you have the iGear guns for him.

Yeah, my thought also is that the headsculpt looks pretty un-Perceptor-like. Honestly, this is so Classics-esque, that I figure the actual Classics Perceptor (which I own for some reason) is quite sufficient. Apart from the G1-accurate alt-mode this doesn't seem like a major improvement to me.
