The Planet Hulk hardcover is such a great epic story.Nice purchase.

One question though as I haven't been reading the HULK title religiously over the last few years (make that about ten since I bought one)--- Where did the HULK's intelligence/verbal ability come from? I remember back in the mid-80's the HULK maintained Banner's persona/intellect as seen in the awesome SECRET WARS... and then later on around '90 the grey HULK was intelligent/cunning. Is this just a new take on the character or did something happen to allow HULK to rationalize and to speak coherently? (I haven't read the hard cover of PLANET HULK yet so if it's in that just say read on...)

That incarnation of the Hulk is called by fans '' the Gravage Hulk''....Its a return to the roots of the character by the writer...the Gravage Hulk was the Hulk of the 60's as he first appeared in Hulk #1 to # 6.The Gravage is a cross between the crafty grey hulk and the Savage Green Hulk without the dumb-child like intellect.

What you only need to know is that The Hulk Personnality is now the dominant one for the moment ( Banner seems totally erased). And that the Hulk personnality is so strong that it evolved in itself...like in the planet Hulk angle, Hulk has learned patience, strategy and teamwork just to survive. He's now able to focus his strenght and emotion in a fight (like the oldstrong tought him in the prologue issue). The Marvel heroes have never face a Hulk like that.Think of him as a modern day Conan who doesnt talk much but kicks lots of ass.

I loved the Iron-Man/Hulk fight from the multiple angles as seen in WORLD WAR HULK #1, the Iron-Man issue, and the issue of the HULK (#107?)... For example "Someone once said that with great power comes great responsibility" and Spidey in the Iron-Man issue (I believe--read it earlier today) saying "Hey, he WAS listening" but you didn't have that in the WORLD WAR #1.

But what I'm really getting into is the hardcover graphic novel of PLANET HULK--- Wonderful art (& colouring) enhanced by a phenomenal storyline... This is what comics for me used to be like back in the mid 80's. And I absolutely loved Wolverine in HULK's dream/fight with Banner watching Hulk rip Iron-Man in two and saying "Could be worse--- could have been me"... Hilarious little allusion to the jaw dropping moment that I've seen from the Ultimates storyline. All in all I'm loving PLANET HULK and I'm really hoping that WORLD WAR HULK keeps the adrenaline rush going!!!

Funny P!TU...
