Well it really looks nice..the base is odd..I can fix that though by culpting a " pot " with rocks and fossils and such to set it down in.

The size..I don't know..I had really hoped for 3 feet at the least.

I can say I will def get the exclusive this time around..that's a nice price for a couple skulls.

Dude, it's 26" long. How are you unhappy? :rotfl

This diorama is huge. I will have to clear off one of my entire shelf tops just to accommodate it. It's a juvenile Camarasaur depicted so the sauropod shouldn't be expected to have enormous proportions, which brings me to the next reason I love this piece. The proportions. They are accurate, and thank God for that. The Allosaurs are going to be large enough to encompass a lot of detail, and they are to scale with the juvenile Camarasaur. Love it. I was actually worried that the juvenile Camarasaur was going to be adult-sized. Not sure why, but from the brief teaser shots I was concerned that the Camarasaur would be oversized or the Allosaurs undersized.

Concerning the base, the reason it can't be depicted in the same way as the other pieces is because the animals are intended to be running across flat terrain and there has to be enough depth to the base to accommodate that aspect. The reason we don't have that in the Deinosuchus piece is because the crocodilian essentially is the base. It's out of necessity that we have this base in the piece, and it looks quite well-detailed from what I can see.

Two exclusive skulls? I'm very pleased. Never saw that coming.

I wouldn't say that it closes the door on another Allosaur piece. I'm still pushing for legendary scale busts. :D

i like it, but minus the camarasaur's neck and tail, wouldn't this piece be a little smaller? that's just my main concern. i really like it though.

It's odd..you know they could always decide to do a different exclusive with maquette versions..I'm sure Sideshow could think of something.

I want them to an adult Para maquette myself to go with the Deino piece.

So the Allos are about 12" right ? Pretty much the same as Carnegie/Safari one ?

Wouldn't the Carnotaurus be on flat terrain too? His base looks like they just took a few feet of the ground with them.

SS's site is really testing my patience tonight!!!! :banghead I have an original coupon (two actually) that for whatever reason aren't valid on this item  ; then when I fill out the customer service form it says I didn't fill out all required fields ---- I am about to throw my computer through a window!!!!

Also seems like Dan's State-of-art reconstruction was quite accurate :lol

Darn tootin'. Let's have another look at that.

OMFGNOTALLOWEDTOHOTLINKTOTHEMAINSIDESHOWWEBSITEFORPICSOMG!

;) :D

The Allos are in excellent scale for a piece of this size. Proportion-wise these are likely comparable to the T.rex in the VS dio. The T.rex didn't seem small, did it? I can't imagine anyone will view the Allos as diminutive here. I'm thrilled with how big they are in comparison to the Camarasaur.

They certainly could decide to do different exclusives. Plaques, artwork, a tooth, a claw, etc. Sideshow has no shortage of imagination.

I'd say 12-14" or so. Nice size and the same detail we've come to expect by the looks of it.

Indeed it would, but the Carno was also on arid terrain. Not sure how much more customers would be wiling to pay for extra detail on cross-sectioned muddy, sodden earth. I'm happy with this if we can keep the price tag at $300.

They look very well detailed..especially the male...but if his head is just over an inch long..heh heh I measured the Rex maquette and it's about 22"..4 more makes this piece's length.

I have 1:1 Killer Klowns and a few 1:1 dinos..I just liek BIG things.. :D

I don't see why some stone pattern and a bit more paint couldn't be added to make the base look better...but I can do it myself..I've figured it up and have a mental image..something like mud and stone with bones in it..like showing what is under the ground under them ?

Oddly enough it was also that artistic rendering which made me leery about the proportions of the Allosaurs. I was thrilled to see they were a bit larger. That's the most pleasant surprise of this night's unveiling for me. The fact that the Allosaurs are of accurate size. I'm going to keep repeating and driving that point home because I'm so thrilled with that. :banana:banana:banana

I think painting it the same color as the mud would have been fine. If I wind up getting this piece that's probably what I will attempt to do.

Thanks for the tip! I canceled and reordered but the 10% off coupon didn't work for me either.

I'll call SS tomorrow and have them put it on manually.

T.rex maquette is 21.5" long. I'd put it much more comparable to the T.rex in the dio. The maquettes naturally showcase sole dinosaurs to convey as much detail as possible in an individual animal.

I like statues where I can buy them and still, you know, afford to buy food. :lol As we've said a few times now, the matching of the manageable size with this sky-high level of detail and moderate price ensures that the line is successful. The collectors who want detail are happy, and the ones who want a dino in their collection (which may not be dino-centric) are happy to have a piece that they love and appreciate as distinct, and the widest possible range of customers for these products are attracted by the price.

Again, with that base, how much more would you be willing to pay for a more detailed base? I'd be happy to keep the price and base as they currently stand. :D

I did the saaaaaaame thing. Those e-coupons expire, and I'm too impatient to sit and fill out all of that crap. I'm from the instant gratification mindset when it comes to placing collectible pre-orders online. I also had 2 coupons - one for ordering Dinosauria pieces and another for ordering the ornament.

I just went ahead and placed the order. Patience be damned. :duh

I was debating that as well. Let me know how you make out, because whilst reading all of those online caveats, it occurred to me that the coupon may have expired. How convenient for we Dinosauria fans to be sent Dinosauria coupons when the next pre-order was a month away, eh? ;)

The coupons don't expire until a year after you receive them. :wave
