That's all it was supposed to be. The story was incidental, it was all about the characters and the performances.

I agree with this, the film itself was nothing special outside of the casting. I felt it was actually quite boring and felt about 20 minutes to long. Of what you would call the oscar hopefuls this was my least favorite of the group so far. 12 years is still tops followed by Wolf of Wallstreet.

I saw this on the weekend and honestly it dragged quite a bit. In regards to the hair I just kept flashing to the opening of the Golden Globes when they referred to its alternate title, Explosion At The Wig Factory. I liked the conclusion but overall it was just an ok film. Loved a certain cameo (representing the family).

I don't understand all the OMG! The best of the YEAR hype either! This was just a good movie..nothing special besides Bale and Adams performances. Lawerence wasn't that great either and didn't deserve an Oscar nom for this. The Wolf of Wall Street blew this movie away!

Are these the legal ones I've been hearing they've experimenting in certain parts of the world or are you referring to the illegal pirated ones?

Well I guess I'm the outlier here in that I totally thought the film deserves the praise it's getting. My wife also agreed with comments about the acting being the main attraction, but I thought the film was very well constructed and paced. Having said that, the movie starts with a Duke Ellington song, then goes to a Steely Dan song, and being a massive fan of both, I got kind of biased at that point toward loving it. A lot of the parts where the film slowed down were done to highlight the emotional development of the characters, and made sense to me. I do question Lawrence getting award nominations, though. I thought she was one of the weakest performances in the film. Louis C.K. did a better job IMO.
