The Amok Time items are really quite impressive in person and no photos yet can truly do them justice. The Karloff series promises to really be something with three figures planned spanning his career. The Monsters HD stuff was unexpected and great to see. And, the new Battlestar Galactica figures extending the defunct Majestic line just damn near brought tears to this sci-fi fans eyes.
You really can't judge these until you're right there wuith them.
Kudos Amok Time. And thanks!!

I like how they look.
If I had the money I'd pick them up. I love that movie.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is the amber colored helmet.

It kind of looks like he has a jar of honey on his head.

I feel like it should be more metallic gold. Maybe the helmet pictured is an unfinished prototype?

Ironman, thank you for the link to your photos :)

What was your impression on the Elvira and the non smiling Betty, as figures tend to look sometimes different when seen on photo ?

Sorry CF, I've liked them from the start... I guess I just don't not like you enough to be negative about the figures. I liked you better when you were in the non-trolling phase.

Last summer I got the oppertunity to visit the artist studio who created the prototype for the Gort figure. There were several different Gorts created for the production of the film including costumes worn by a 7 foot tall man and static statues that were used in some scenes. All looked somewhat different when publicity stills and screen captures from the movie are compared. The decession was made to go for more of the guy in the suit as opposed to the familiar publicity stills that show the static Gort with a straight waist. The hate being brought on this figure goes to show the old saying "you can't please all of the people all of the time". Provided below is a screen capture of a scene from the movie that shows that at least part of the film supports the look of the Gort figure.

Good shot - I stand corrected. I prefer the lower waisted look, but if it's screen accurate - that's a step in the right direction.

This seems to be coming down to not whether the figures are good or not, but whether you're into old sci-fi... which I am. Therefore I likes 'em :D

...even if it means I have to agree with Collector Freak

Well, having seen the figures first hand, AND being a sci-fi fan [of both old and new sci-fi] these figures represent nothing but good things to come!!!

Glad to hear you like 'em Ironman, I for one am stoked about them. And they will fill a gap in my collection. I've always though Gort and Metaluna Mutant were two of the quintessential aliens :rock

And.. I'm working on an updated Exeter!!

Maybe there's hope for classics like
Invasion of the Saucermen
The Slime People
It! The Terror from Beyond Space

Oh, and I forgot!!
The She Creature is supposed to be forthcoming as well but wasn't ready for the fair!!
