I think I like most classic movies just cause of their simplicity overall.
to me its a nice break from today's over worked movies....:monkey1

Maybe some Sleestak? I remember Space Academy had a series of Mego-ish figures, but I'd go for 1:6 versions, as well as Land of the Lost, Jason of Star Command and Ark II.

The Day the Earth Stood Still is a science fiction classic, one of the first films, along with Forbidden Planet, that took the genre seriously and understood that it was not just for children. Michael Rennie's understated performance as the lonely alien walking incognito among humankind endures to this day.

Maybe you have to appreciate the source material, but I look at these figures and think, wonderful! Is Gort kind of simple and clunky? Yes of course, as he was in the film. That's the beauty of it. And the Michael Rennie sculpt looks first rate, and the costume material looks completely true to the source.

Even if you're too jaded by CG effects and modern filmmaking technique to appreciate something so old school, you should understand what an amazing step it is for this hobby that Amok Time is making these figures -- and who knows what to come? They deserve encouragement and support in this effort. I genuinely don't understand why so many people feel the need to piss all over somebody who's making a solid effort to expand this little hobby of ours into new areas.

:clap :clap :clap

Well said, although the pissing on part I think was soley directed at the original poster not really at the product.

Ironman, you might know more about this, but these figures look like maybe the Sci Fi Metropolis team had a hand in putting them together ...? The thing I love about SFM's Lost in Space figs is that their costumes don't just look like some idealized imaginary version of what we sort of imagined the actors were wearing as we watched them on tv -- they look like miniaturized versions of the actual costumes the wardrobe dept. would have supplied to the actors, right down to the velour and polyester materials they used.

I didn't confirm it with anyone because, well, I was pretty much in awe of the magnitude of Toy Fair. I do think that the SFM sculptors can be credited with the fantastic sculpts on ALL of the figures.
All of the figures are wonderful "miniatures" of the classics they each represent. I can't wait to complete my LiS cast!!
I am somewhat surprised that there hasn't been more attention to the Boris Karloff. After the Rod Serling that was available thru this board to accompany the TZ figures, a Karloff to go with the Universal Monsters could open the door to possible other accompanying figures.

These prices are more in line for what these figures are. Looks like they're really going hog wild with 12'' figs.

Great prices, thats why I was so stoked about the Klaatu & Gort 2 Pack :rock

I was ready to drop $70 on Gort alone, but an extra $30 and I get Klaatu?!? Done deal :rock

I actually ran across that when it first went up, that'd be a pretty cool item for a home theater.

And I've noticed that no one seems to make a Gort that looks like the costume, even in a 1:1 he's cleaner and simpler looking, similar to what Amok Time is releasing.

If the Michael Rennie sculpt and the Klaatu boots got tweaked just a little, that would be a great figure. Fabric boots need not look like pillowcases.

Gort still needs work on the head-sculpt and the opening visor is a must!

Ideally, Gort should have electronics and two eye-modes.

If the original studio scale shooting miniature was 1/6 scale (which it might be) then the saucer you will need is around 6'!
