I was thinking about the Highlander line, and while we might not get a Medievil Kurgan for sometime, or a Juan Sanchez Ramirez - there is one Immortal from the orginal film that would be an easy product for SSC - SUNDA KASTAGIR!

Here's my reasoning

(1) His severed head was the Kurgan exclusive - so they already have a headsculpt that is 90% there.

(2) He is played by the same actor that played Captain Panaka - so its likely they will do him for Star Wars at some point in time.

(3) His costume is almost identical to the outfit for Jedi Knights - so again not alot of R&D required.

I'd imagine it would only be done as a small run - but as I noted above the R&D costs would be minimal for this figure and it has been quite some time since we had another Highlander figure.

I would be as well....

And the good thing is... that if they ever do a Panaka, a custom Kastagir would be easy to make. Just a little sculpey beard and the costume... voila!

So hope is still there if they never make him.

Sure that would be cool, but If they are going to make another Highlander figure why make someone like that? Make Richie, Amanda, METHORS, Joe dawson, Jacob Kell, Kalas, Kronos, etc etc. all those would sell better then Kasatgir and his Boom Boom. With that being said I'd buy a Kasatgir, just think there are more important and interesting choices.

If they did this guy and not origins Kurgan I think the exclamation of outrage would be heard throughout the land.

True Dave.... I'd hate to say it guys, but I think that the Highlander line is dead and buried. Unfortunately they chose the wrong lineup....

Should have been....

Modern Connor And Modern Kurgan

Origins Connor and Origins Kurgan

and THEN do Duncan and a TV villian....

The inclusion of Duncan poisoned this line, IMO.... Kurgan sold well, and if they had included him to begin with, Origins Connor would have sold out as well.... No dissing the TV show or Duncan, but he's not a big seller.

Really the only seller is the Kurgan. Even the Connor's haven't sold well.

That is also true. Connor was never a big seller either. Kurgan was the only success of the entire line. But they could still sell a Hell of a lot more Origins Connor's if they made the Medieval Kurgan... which I doubt they ever will... as sad as that is. :monkey2

I think also the versions chosen didn't help - I mean surely the Origins Connor should have come with the shield, battle armour and fur cloak rather than as he did..... and the same for Duncan.

I also question the inclusion of Duncan, but I assume it was the license holder that may have insisted on that since at the time they were trying to shift the focus of the franchise onto duncan.

I think it was lame of Sideshow to acquire a licence that didn't include the rights to Ramirez... That would be like getting star wars with no right to Alec Guiness' likeness. To me, this prolly spelled D O O M from the very start.

I would absolutely go for a Kastagir figure.
I agree that the lack of Ramirez in this line is what doomed it the most. He was portrayed by the most notable actor in the entire movie. Without him and a late Kurgan offering must have had a major impact on the success of the line.
I still don't know why Connery is against it, he has to know that Sideshow made a few versions of him in the Bond line, even if he had no say so over it.

I think you are very right Dave.... That would coincide with the last film as well... Duncan was more of the focus point.

And who knows what kinds of drama goes on behind the scenes when it comes to License holders demands...

Yup. Whoever decided to include Duncan BEFORE Kurgan was clearly not thinking

Yup, more truth.

The biggest detriment to the line was no Ramirez.

100% true. Origins Connor was a huge let down.
