The messed up thing is that the Doom PF is the only PF that has gone up significantly in price.Too bad I'm not into Marvel,I'd have one pricy PF

I was looking at the new QTVR pics and his robe does look better now,but I still like the ribbed robe much better.I'm also scared of what he'll look like with his hood up.Does anyone know if he'll have the wire in the hood.I don't even know if it would be appropriate for PF's,and I don't think they used a wire in the old ben PF.

I'm sure his hood will have a wire, Maul's, forgive me Darth, skirt pieces have wire in them to shape them a little to your liking.

Hood up will look ok with shaping of the wire and such, but in the back it'll puff out like the 1/6 hoods unless they go back to the gauzy stuff, I think that'll fall onto his shoulders better.

And even THAT fabric changed and significantly at that:

1) the proto piece has a much thinner and lighter colored costume

2) it even appears a bit more shiney

The PF Doom's robe material is highly inaccurate, because after all in the comic pages his robes are made of CMYK printed paper. Sideshow really missed the boat with that one.

Let's keep this thread alive, It seems that with the robe problem there's no more appreciation for the Anakin PF... I'm sure they'll decide something about the robe before showing the statue at Toyfair next month.

There will be no "live" shots from Toy Fair - it's all online this year for SSC.

And I had conjectured that it was the wires in the hood and hem that made the first QTVR robe look funky. I think it's a safe bet that there will be wires.

I do hope they fix the robe a bit on the exclusive anakin QTVR cause he looks goofy. Like they did with the regular QTVR which now looks good... just to have a right look at anakin-vader with his hood up.

Thought I'd share this from the SSC production blog, relative to the Anakin robe material in the prototype.

Not all fabrics and textures are as easily workable into figure garments in small scale as they are in a larger scale, and when creating a prototype, accuracy in the silhouette sometimes takes a priority over exact textures or color shades. Once a prototype costume is made to capture the silhouette correctly, precise materials must be found (sourced) that can accurately recreate the small scale costume in a production run.

That's the SSC approach, and clearly the proto image robe was aimed more at the silhouette and overall look, despite not being the exact matching fabric. I totally trust SSC's choices on fabric departure from the source materials when they get into anything less than 1:1 scale, they work to make the overall piece look best first and foremost, which in the end is most importatn.
