more practical & easier to do in 1:1 scale rather than 1:4 scale I'd imagine

The sewing method is absolutely easier in full scale. However, it would be easy for them to substitute the sewing for gluing like they did on the 1:6 figure, except with two sides instead of one. It would create the same look.

My main point would be that they did things correctly in 1:6 scale that they are not in the larger, 1:4 scale.

The new robe fabric is a definite improvement over the Obi-wan, which had a tendency to just hang straight down with no real shape to it.

I wouldn't mind seeing the top-stitching eliminated, if at all possible. Like Danakin said, if it can be done in 1:6, it shouldn't be difficult in 1:4.

I'm going to be patient and assume that ,being a prototype that is three quarters away from production, we'll likely see a few refinements in this figure.

As for the sculpt ... :rock Amazing face. Great, great job, there, Trevor. :clap

This is interesting--comparing the actual costume and the PF version, you can see some differences. However, at the reduced scale, I think that the stitching method they used, as well as the fabric for the robe, will result in a better looking figure at the reduced size we are getting. I can imagine more screen accurate costuming choices resulting in a figure that doesn't look as nice overall. A flat fabric wouldn't drape as nicely in 1:4 scale.

That's what I'm talking about. I don't need a 1/4 piece to be exact to the costume down to stitching and fabrics if some choices mean the overall look of the piece better captures the screen look because some of the film materials don't work well in smaller scales. Something like the shade of brown I nitpick cuz I don't imagine that has much bearing on everything to get it right.

Sideshow even said one about the 1/6 line that their material choices aren't all about replicating the film, but to do that as best they can while also maintaining the right overall aesthetic to the figure.

Personally I kinda like it when edition sizes are large enough that they don't sell out immediately. Granted Maul and Luke have been around for quite awhile, but I don't personally have a problem with that either. Gives people who are new to this stuff a chance to get it.

I could not agree more - let everyone who wants one, get one.

The sculpting on this piece is just amazing. Hayden's likeness is captured perfectly and the pose is very powerful. The exclusive Sith-eyed head is just icing on the cake.

Unfortunately my concern over the fabric has been confirmed. The robe should not have a crinkled texture and the tabards should not be top-stitched, the tabards also look to be too wide as well. What I don't understand is that Sideshow got it right on the 1:6 figure, why the step back on this one, which should technically be more detailed/accurate?

The photos MaulFan posted illustrate the differences very clearly:

Is anyone else bothered by this? I've ordered mine and I want it to be the best it possibly can be and these issues are so minor they can be changed very easily. They've changed things in the past based on fan input (Plo Koon's green lightsaber) so why not try and get this fixed?

That's the problem with SS,instead of using a variety of materials to get the look right, they'd rather just reuse the same materials two or three times to save money. In this case they used the robe material for the lining behind the belt.It makes the shades look really off. That's why all this stuff we buy is'nt worth half what we pay for it,unless where talking secondary market.

This is my hope as well. I haven't exactly followed the pre-order-to-production process on the PFs, but hasn't there been changes to past statues during that time?

Like I mentioned before, I think it looks incredible overall and I've got mine pre-ordered. I just want it to be as good as it possibly can be and I want to get the word out there to Sideshow's creative team if these are indeed oversights instead of deliberate choices.

i would buy a vader in this pose too....a suited Vader. hell I'd buy anything SS Vader for that matter.

I like that the pose is essential the promo still I posted, but the outstretch force hand adds a little more dynamic to it and brings it more to life than just standing like a statue, so kudos on that decision. As I said, this pose is perfect for intense, yet kind Anakin and full Sith rage Vader.

Hood?

I wonder why they didnt pose him with the hood on...:confused::confused:

maybe cause he dont look good with it...

I want him with the hood on...:monkey2

You guys, leave the personal battles out of it, let people say what they want, if you disagree throw out your counterpoint but don't let it get personal and *****y, that's why this forum gets a bad rap in the other areas, elsewhere they disagree but at a 1 to 10 ratio, they don't get personal about it as much as the Star Wars section. There's no need to criticize each other, we're here to talk about products and this is one kickass looking product. There's so much life in the Hayden portrait, and those eyes man, going to rock.

you know a Star Wars PF is a home run when the Great Worm himself preorder it. :lecture:lecture:lecture

You could have Anakin and Hulk flank your TV or something Shai, 2 badasses you don't want to **** with staring down all those who threaten your posessions. Careful though, your chicks might find the Hayden portrait attractive versus Hulk :lol

I thought that Obiwan's robe hanging straight down was a better reflection of how he looked in the OT.

PF anakin- ORDERED!

I love how alive he looks in this shot.

And kudos to Sideshow for using moody lighting on some shots to highlight the sculpt.
