I think he was trying to make a funny...
I'm good with the Jabba I have, but I can see how that would be cool. And I agree, never understood why the TPM looked so good, but the ANH one was horrendous. Especially when, I understand a huge portion of the SE budget went into that shot.
Didn't they actually re-do that shot again?
I think there was an updated version in one of the DVD releases... although it still looked like ass.
Yes, the redid it for the 2004 DVDs, and the WTF moment was that the ANH 2004 Jabba still looked crappy compared to the nice job they did in TPM. The colors were way off, even his shape was off, I figured they'd just drop in the same CGI model from TPM into ANH but they did something to him and it didn't work out.
Weren't they limited to keping him a certain size due to the fact that Ford had to walk over him?
They had limits yes, which is why he was slimmed and they had the tail run behind him, but seemingly, there's no size difference between the Phantom Menace CGI Jabba and both ANH renditions, so they could have just dropped the Phantom Menace Jabba into ANH and then the scene would really work instead of being semi-laughable.
Maybe they will revise it for the next release, maybe on Blu Ray? Did you call UPS by any chance? Any update on your delivery status? According to UPS, mine is now at the distribution center not far from my house, but still says Adverse weather?
I'm scheduled to get this figure today. I really need to feel like I got my money's worth with this one because the hobby is losing me recently.
Truth is thats harder and harder to do... I was checking recent eBay sales and almost all the exclusives are selling well below retail. For instance a Plo Kloon and Kit Fisto (both exclusive) recently sold for under $40 a piece.
But I like the figures, so I don't sweat it. But it almost feels like I should just take my chances w/the secondary market to buy my figures.
