I'm in the same situation, no delivery today, weather interferance.

Me and the UPS guy tomorrow.

"I have no tolerance for drivers who don't make their delivers through any conditions."

"Even I get boarded sometimes, you think I had a choice!"

I'm sure I'm (Han) (S)olo on this notion, but I'd like an ANH Jabba figure. While I think the CGI was poor for both attempts in ANH (shocking the 2004 versions sucked when TPM Jabba came out so well), but if they did a TPM based "walking" Jabba, I'd love to set him up with Han. Addition of Jabba was a favorite change to ANH for me, I've always liked Jabba and it was cool to get more of him and an alternate side of him seeing him off his throne. Of course, I'd then need the requisite Harrison Ford pointing finger hand.

I'm good with the Jabba I have, but I can see how that would be cool. And I agree, never understood why the TPM looked so good, but the ANH one was horrendous. Especially when, I understand a huge portion of the SE budget went into that shot.

Didn't they actually re-do that shot again?

I think there was an updated version in one of the DVD releases... although it still looked like ass.

Yes, the redid it for the 2004 DVDs, and the WTF moment was that the ANH 2004 Jabba still looked crappy compared to the nice job they did in TPM. The colors were way off, even his shape was off, I figured they'd just drop in the same CGI model from TPM into ANH but they did something to him and it didn't work out.

Weren't they limited to keping him a certain size due to the fact that Ford had to walk over him?

They had limits yes, which is why he was slimmed and they had the tail run behind him, but seemingly, there's no size difference between the Phantom Menace CGI Jabba and both ANH renditions, so they could have just dropped the Phantom Menace Jabba into ANH and then the scene would really work instead of being semi-laughable.

I'm scheduled to get this figure today. I really need to feel like I got my money's worth with this one because the hobby is losing me recently.

Maybe they will revise it for the next release, maybe on Blu Ray? Did you call UPS by any chance? Any update on your delivery status? According to UPS, mine is now at the distribution center not far from my house, but still says Adverse weather?

I'm not going to worry about it, I actually had storms hit me hard overnight last night so I'm not surprised. Right now the adverse alert is for the main MA UPS station, from there it'll go to the local one at some point and then out for delivery. I'd guess it'll be tomorrow now instead. I'm not going to call them up over a simple delay, they've happened before.

Jabba does look odd in ANH in that scene. You would figure they'd get it right with TPM but just goes to show even the experts screw things up. :lol

On a side note I'm still due to get Han today.

Truth is thats harder and harder to do... I was checking recent eBay sales and almost all the exclusives are selling well below retail. For instance a Plo Kloon and Kit Fisto (both exclusive) recently sold for under $40 a piece.

But I like the figures, so I don't sweat it. But it almost feels like I should just take my chances w/the secondary market to buy my figures.

I was thinking the same just the other day... really, the exclusive except a few, are pretty lame, so unless you really want it or are a completist, secondary market seems to be the way to go. Specially because now that I live in California, there's sale taxes involved...:monkey2
but I get the figures faster!! :chew
Decisions...

Secondary market does look appealling more and more, but I'm not too concerned with my item loosing value. I just want it to be good enough that when I plunk down $70 I feel like I made a good use of my money.

The faster the retail prices of these go up the more I feel like I'm not. Even the hobbits as great as they are, I'm unsure if I got my value out of them.

I just got Han and I'm just floored by how great he looks! Trevor is just being modest because the head sculpt is pretty damn near perfect! :clap:clap:clap:clap
The paint is actually fairly decent on mine, the eyebrows aren't too full or dark and the hair is much lighter then pictures have lead on.
One thing I think is important is to have a good amount of shadow fall from the brow onto the eyes and from the nose to really make the resemblance shine.
The vest is also a work of art, all the pockets are functional, it's lined, and yet it still manages to lay very flat to the body! :D
Also I haven't seen it mentioned before but there's a very light wash of black weathering on the holster an belt that looks great!

Absolutely great figure!
Now Bring on Luke and Indy!!! :lightsabe :whip
