A comparison shot between the two Hans. Both are repainted but ANH Han takes the cake for realism. His head and facial features are proportionate to themselves and the body and that, to me, is what makes a realistic looking 1:6 figure.
Even if ESB Han were to get a perfect repaint he would never match the look of Trevor's Han. I wish all of SS's figures would recieve extreme scrutiny when it comes to proportions because even if the sculpt isn't dead on it could be somewhat overlooked by achieving a realistic looking collectible figure rather than an ok looking toy.
I half to say after looking at the above pick, the ESB Han looks a lot more like the Fonz from Happy Days than Harrison Ford.
Trev, thanks again for delivering this great sculpt of my favorite SW character!
You got it, lawtonn22!
Just got a new camera today (after nearly ten years using the old one) and here's some of the results....
I really like this figure the more I look at it....a lot!
Well, I agree ANH Jabba should have looked like ROTJ, but obviously the setup of the scene wouldn't accommodate that and even didn't accommodate the design they did use. However, if they'd used the TPM Hutt, it would look ok, I think he looks close to a younger, more slender version of what he came to be in ROTJ.
Unfortunately, this is quite off in the anatomy.
And this just looks terrible.
I wonder where LFL would step in, but if Sideshow made a Jabba in the TPM design, I think it'd be really cool. I love Jabba and it was exciting when he was put into ANH for me, despite the technical issues, and I remember how excited I got when Hasbro put out the Han and Jabba figure set.
welcome, cerealkeller! Yes, he is a good figure. I'm also looking forward to Luke so he can join Han and the Princess on display...
I hate to go off on a tangent, but putting Jabba back in ANH has got to be one of Lucas's dumbest ideas. In the trilogy as it originally was, you had them mentioning Jabba a few times in the first two movies as a sort of foreshadowing, so when you finally got to see him it seemed like a big deal. That's all out the window if he appears in the first few minutes. That's apart from the fact that the CGA in the scene doesn't work at all. (And the fact that Han steps on this merciless crime lord's tail and gets away with it.) So yeah, no interest in another Jabba. The Phantom Menace one would be cool in a way, but not different enough to really warrant a new figure, given the size and expense.
