I actually called them about it earlier today and talked with someone. It took quite a while just to communicate what the problem was. She said she wasn't aware of the issue and treated it like a one-time factory accident rather than something that happened with all of them, so it's possible they don't even know that this issue exists. Unfortunately, I didn't buy mine from Sideshow, so they said I would have to go through my retailer, who would contact them about it, and it seemed like way too much work for me. She wasn't sure if it would be necessary to return the existing blaster.

I don't see them doing any mass recall type thing.

I can't imagine that they would require you to give up the Greedo blaster. As for whether they would be willing to give people the right blaster, I don't know if anyone has asked.

Yes, they would require you to return the "defective" item just like they would with a broken part. They credit your sideshow account for the shipping.

Well, one of my pillows on the Jabba's throne set had some of the paint scraped off, and they just took my word for it and sent me another one. That's the scenario I was envisioning, but it's hard to know. Of course, if they start getting a lot of requests for replacements, they might change their policy, too.

What I was told back when I had to replace my Bespin Luke is that for weapons and accessories, they just ship out a new one, which is what they did with my Praji belt, I sent a picture of the damage, but I just got a new belt, still have the old one for parts or whatever later.

But it wasn't an exclusive. Key word being EXCLUSIVE.

About the problem "retailer-buy": I am a retailer myself (as stated earlier) and i really don't seeing my distributor (who is in the UK, i am in Germany) replacing anything. If i would contact him he would not know about the problem and would'nt see it as an actual problem (thats for sure).
I guess the same is with other retailers. This is not a broken product return but a complete exchange of the full figure at Sideshow. My english distributor can't send me accurate Solos because there are noaccurate ones in the whole world.
So i think contacting Sideshow is the only an true way in this case.
I have to say that i find it quite odd that they point to retailers who are not able to solve the problem anyway.
And this mistake should be known and accepted by Sideshow at this time (many customers wrote them about it).

I think they want customers to bring it back to the retailers for the retailers to make the exchange with Sideshow Directly. This requires a little bit more work on your part but provides them with a direct proof of sale, order/problem tracking, etc., and to prevent your average kit-basher from trying to acquire a free blaster? It makes perfect sense.

EDIT: I can see though what you're saying about being an odd situation. The item isn't defective, nor broken. The issue is only with a small accessory that the item comes with.

Well, I contacted Sideshow and they emailed me back that they would send me the new gun, but that I had to destroy the old one and send them photo evidence.:monkey2

So now I've got to decide if I want to do that or not.

What do you guys think? Keep what I've got or get the replacement?

Or are there... other alternatives?

Kinda seems like a no-brainer... You only get one scene to pose with the Greedo blaster. With the other, you have every scene but the Greedo scene, PLUS, you get a blaster that actually fits in the holster. And if you're not that much of a detail stickler, you could even still do the Greedo scene with the normal blaster. Only us SW ubergeeks would be able to tell the difference.

Actually, I just thought of something. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember in the scene where HAN SHOOTS FIRST, it shows Han unbuttoning the blaster beneath the table and pulling it out of his holster. If that is, in fact the case, then why doesn't it fit in his holster?!

Cam you tell me the e-mail adress you filled in the complain?

It does fit in his holster. I have mine in there.

Someone else complained that it didn't. I'm not sure as I never tried it and the Greedo blaster is packed away in the box, in storage. I kept Han with the standard blaster for a pose similar to the Kotobukiya, but opposite and with gun draped across the knee.

Well, the other blaster might fit better, but the one I have seems good enough, and the strap definitely reaches.

eh, you can actually see how that's barely seated in the holster. It's sitting way high. If you're cool with it, rock it. I'd prefer a blaster seated lower in the holster. I suppose you could either trim the holster down further to accommodate the extra bracket or commit the ultimate crime and trim off the extra bracket to get the gun to seat better in the holster.

If you say so, but keep in mind that this is what Bespin Han's blaster looks like in his holster (and I've pushed it so far down in there that the holster is starting to deform a bit). Looks exactly the same to me.

I'd like to see a shot of someone's "regular" blaster in the ANH Han holster.

Update on the replacement gun.

I sent Sideshow the picture of the broken gun. I didn't have the heart to do it myself, but my wife was only too happy to do the deed for me! Sideshow wrote back saying they got the picture and would send out the replacement.

BUT...

I got a second email with the following:

"We have been in contact with our production team regarding the 12” Han Solo as Smuggler figure. They have confirmed that the silver-tipped gun accessory included with the figure is correct. Please note our website photos are incorrect and adjustments will be made immediately.

As such, a replacement silver-tipped gun will be shipped to you under order #XXXXXXX. Please allow 7 to 14 business days for your replacement order to ship. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused."

It's a little confusing since both guns have a silver tip, but it sounds like they're sending me the same gun again!
