ANH Han Solo - Official picture thread

Out the packet I'd agree, but with a few minor tweaks the sculpt really shines.
Delete those eyebrows!!

Sure, I've repainted mine as well. But out of the package, I have to give the nod to the Bespin version, which I never thought I would say.

Just out of curiosity, what is it you like and dislike about Bespin Han and Smuggler Han, respectively?

Basically it's just the paint job. I think they really screwed up the paint for ANH Han. Dead doll eyes, caterpillar eyebrows, etc. My only complaint about Bespin Han's paint is that he should have brown instead of black hair, but that's a common thing with Han Solo collectibles, perhaps even dictated by LFL. The sculpt on ANH is clearly better than Bespin, but you can't really appreciate it due to the paint.

Ok, I see.
Paint apps on my Smuggler Solo are very nice, so that's good. But also I think the fit of the clothes is much better, as well as the sculpt, so that's why I find him very superior to Bespin Han. On Bespin Han nothing really works for me. I feel the sculpt is off (paint apps are ok), the clothes fit terribly, etc...

Yeah, the clothes aren't great on Bespin Han, it's true. But I feel like they're just acceptable on ANH Han, not great. I repainted Bespin Han's hair brown, and I feel that helps the sculpt and likeness a great deal.

Yeah, I think I'll give Bespin Han a repaint and see how that helps.

I was never fond of Sideshow's Bespin Han. It really does need a repaint to make it look better. More so than the ANH Han.

Here are a few pics I originally posted from Rebelscum. I didn't do too much the Han. Just switched the boots with some leather ones and added some padding to the legs/thighs.

I still prefer ANH out of the box... to me its a tighter figure all around. Also, stepping back and looking at the two of them on the shelf the ANH version just looks much more realistic than ESB.

It's possible that my disappointment in how it turned out is coloring my perception of it a bit. I remember people going wild over the unpainted sculpt, and then when I saw the real thing I couldn't believe how much it had changed. Bespin Han was released before I started collecting.

That superaccurate item-replications of Sideshow is the thing that makes the series so perfect for me. I might send them a mail about a replacement.

Has anyone tried contacting Sideshow about getting the regular blaster? Do you think they would let you keep both? I like the idea of the blaster actually fitting properly in the holster, but I would hate to have to trade one for the other!

I can't imagine that they would require you to give up the Greedo blaster. As for whether they would be willing to give people the right blaster, I don't know if anyone has asked.

I don't see them NOT doing so. Remember that fake vid of the girls destroying the PF Biker Scout? Sideshow made them provide evidence of the figure being destroyed before they would send a replacement. Since it only costs like $0.40 to mail the blaster back, I really don't see that being a far fetched request as allowing people to keep it, kinda negates their exclusive edition.

I called Sidehsow about getting a replacement, but they said since I bought it from someone else (cornerstorecomics.com) that they couldn't send me one, I'd have to go thru whoever I bought it from to get a replacement. Sideshow said they have replacement pieces set aside but only for those who order direct from them.
Has anyone else contacted Sideshow about a replacement?

That would mean that if you are to get one, the seller will have to do the leg work to get it. Just contact them, if you business is important enough they'll take care of it.

No, shipping the wrong gun with every figure is what negates their exclusive. They're not going to do some kind of mass exchange program, but they might send you the non-exclusive gun if you just ask.

Not necessarily. Though they shipped the greedo blaster with the regular version, you can't get Han's regular ANH blaster anywhere else. The TESB is a unique gun to that movie which still makes their Smuggler Han an exclusive release. It's just the normal blaster is the exclusive and the Greedo blaster is the regular. So the regular version will still only come with one (the Greedo) while the exclusives still come with both. I'm very interested to see how SSC handles this.

Because the Blaster does not fit in the holster rightly this is gonna be a bigger problem for all those regular owners.

Mistakes happen but PLEASE Sideshow stand to it and do the right thing!
