LOL...Sideshow is full is surprises, aren't they?

Edit - Are you sure it was German and not Dutch? I am not a linguist, but I seem to remember that the 2 languages sound similar.

No idea. It looks German but it might be Dutch. All i know is i can't read the ^^^^ing thing :lol

I think MaulFan did this:

And......?

You know what happens when you assume.

More than likely its they couldn't match the exact material and went with the next best thing. Now, was there any money savings in the process? I have no idea for sure depends on what the cost of finding new material, etc. etc. all cost.

Seems like contradicting Justin's theory (though it wasn't necessarily spoken like a theory, more like a musing) involves some assumption as well, does it not?

As for finding the material, if they found it for a prototype I would "assume" its available for production. I highly doubt they hand wove material for the proto.

I'm sure to the smallest degree it does. However, dealing with SS enough and having them explain changes like this when its happened before I feel safe stating my 2 cents.

Yeah. Still waiting for that explanation on Qui-Gon's tunic...in the meantime, I feel comfortable assuming.

You realize the protos are made here in the states and the production pieces are made in China? Meaning there is a decent chance the same exact material found here probably won't be found there. Which again means if they wanted to use the proto material they would have to ship it there costing MORE money making the figures COST MORE.

Same story as Luke I would venture to guess. Go ahead and keep assuming. :)

Seems like a likely apologist reasoning. If SSC can't buy the fabric in China or can't ship the fabric to China they got no business using it for the proto, IMO. Seems like "COST MORE" was inherent in the description of Luke to begin with. He was $69.99, remember? Thats $5 more than the recent Han and $20 more than the first Luke. If assuming those increases would cover making the figure match the prototype, then color me an ASS.

At least I'm a critical thinking ASS and not an excuse maker for a company I don't work for.

Why is it an apologist reasoining? Because thats how you view me? Someone else had said that I'm sure you'd have a different take. Not that I care what you think. Your two cents are not one I tend to care about and haven't for a while. I tend to read a lot of blah blah blah when I see your posts. So there's no worries you'll continue to be an ASS (not so much the critical thinking part :lol) but I'm no lemming nor making excuses just stating the facts that have been given in the past.

Anyways, I'm of the mind they should use everything for the proto they do on the production. Makes things better for all of us. As far as the costs I'm not even gonna begin to go down the road of EVERYTHING cost more now to produce than it did when the first Luke came out. Not to mention I stand firm by they undersold the first figures of this line to get the spark they needed.

I would have called it apologist thinking no matter who said it. As much as it may surprise you, I'm not making this personal at all.

To say that SSC couldn't find the fabric in China and shouldn't eat cost by sending the fabric to China... yet directly contradict Justin's assertion that they did it to save coin, is both contradictory and apologetic.

Plus, if SSC is willing to eat money (probably $1000s on shipping costs alone) to fix hundreds of SIMs they should spend the extra cash to get the right material on Luke. For the cost of fixing 10 SIMs they could have sent a ream of the right fabric to China.

Luke comes with more ^^^^, maybe that's why he cost more, mabey the shirt will kick all kinds of assess in hand mabey not, time will tell my friends.

Let us hope! If not, I suppose it won't be the hardest thing to repro in a better material.

Yes, they save money by not shipping it over to China. I think thats quite obvious. However, who's to say they saved much at all by going with that fabric? I don't see where its a safe assumption they saved this great amount doing what they did. I honestly believe SS wants to match everything from Proto 2 Production.

They ate the money on the SIMS because they where arriving damaged.
