I find it amusing how you think belonging to PETA is such an awful thing. An organization that promotes kindness to animals is some sort of evil corporation? I don't understand how PETA bothers you so much? What have they done to harm you personally?

I could go on with some of their outlandish statements comparing animals to the crimes committed against Jews and all of that.

I don't agree with tactics at all. I agree with their message though. No organization is 100 percent perfect. I could quote priests defending the Catholic church for molesting kids,,,does that mean the entire Catholic religion is nuts?

Just because I think cruelty to animals is wrong people have to start being wise *****. Some people deserve what they get. Animals however never deserve it.

You wouldn't put animals below humans? Does your pet get a vote in family decisions? Do you eat meat? If a car was barrelling toward your child and your pet, and you could only save one ... you'd have to think about it?

Yes we eat meat. But does that mean that the animal has to be mistreated while it's alive? Do cows (who are sick with madcow disease) need to be herded using a forklift? It's a proven fact that animals raised humanely to be eaten taste better. Countries in Europe respect the animals that they are going to eat. Here in this country we let chickens wallow in their own _____ then we wonder why people get ecoli. Or the US Govt allows slaughterhouses to butcher cows that have tested positive for madcow disease. Or that pig farms grind up dead and sick pigs to feed other pigs with then act surprised when people get trichinosis.

Because I believe in what their larger goal is. I'm a Democrat...does that mean i believe 100 percent of what my part does? Hell no...but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be a member. I think it would be hard to find an organization that you agree with 100 percent of the time. Like I said in a previous post..I'm a chef and I think we were made to eat meat. That goes against some of PETAs beliefs...but I also believe that we have an obligation to respect what we are eating and treat it humanely. And if that means that you keep trying to insult me with personal attacks I welcome them.

Then you likely don't actually think humans and animals are equal ... unless you find killing humans for meals equally acceptable (or unless you only eat meat from animals that were afforded due process of law before their execution).

Yes it is. We gave tons to the Louisiana ASPCA after Katrina. And every Xmas we buy toys and treats and give them to the local animal shelter.

How on earth has this thread become about the food chain. Exactly the kind of crap I'd expect to find on here. I came on here to express my views about animal cruelty and because I said it was low all these immature people come out and say ' what about murder, rape etc' that's not the issue here at all. I love animals, I get on well with them and in some way I have more respect for them than I do most humans. They can't let you down, lie, cheat etc. This is why I hold animals in high regard and the fact they can't fight back is what makes the whole sitution diabolical.

I suppose that depends on how you define "mistreatment". Some, like PETA, would call killing and grilling (or skinning and wearing) "mistreatment". They also would likely say keeping an animal in captivity (incarceration), keeping/selling them as property, or using them for unpaid labor or entertainment (slavery) would be mistreatment. In those cases, I wouldn't agree.

If you mean animals shouldn't be tortured needlessly, then I'm with you completely. Nonetheless, there are higher crimes than even animal torture ... so its good to have your priorities straight.
