Anakin: "We're going to hunt you down, Dooku."

Obi-Wan: "Patience Anakin. Making threats does nothing to bring us closer to Dooku."

I have an older, Nathan Drake body I hadn’t used. When I went looking around in that figure, to see if there were any compatible parts I could use for this conversion , I found damage. The hard plastic inner structure had cracks in and in some places chunks had come off but were held in place, glued to the outer rubber. It’s seems like a much stronger plastic too.
The butterfly joint on that body is just a bad design. And it has transcended to other figures with that same body like TOD Indy. My Comic Magneto's butterfly joints just crumbled for no apparent reason the other day and even though it's a slightly larger body than the Nathan Drake/TOD Indy body, it uses the same butterfly joint.

Also, you weren't kidding when you said "To get to and use the parts I needed, most of the rest had to be destroyed." My comic Punisher lower leg broke inside the leg when I was pulling off on of the boots (I was going to test on a different body). I thought I'd be able to just pull the lower leg off and swap it with another one I had like you can do with most HT bodies, but nope! I had to completely cut the lower leg open front to back just to get to it off and see how it broke. Then had to do some crazy work to put it all back together and fill in the gaps once I came up with a solution. It was just nuts and overly complicated.

Oh man that sucks

Also, the magneto looked great and got good body reviews, so this is sad to hear

Sorry your collection took a hit from all this

No worries. Thankfully I'm pretty handy at this sort of thing. Not nearly as handy as @McHaleyArt (especially when it comes to frankensteining bodies- he's incredible at it like we see on the previous page) but I can usually find some sort of solution. It was more of the annoyance at having to go through it all to make it better/stronger than it was before. Like, I put in little metal pins at certain spots to reconstruct the butterfly joint and a screw to keep the part that creates the swivel ability from shearing off, so now it's definitely not going anywhere. As for the Punisher leg, I used some pins with specific glue for plastics then filled the entire empty leg cavity with epoxy for plastics, so it also isn't going anywhere now. But that took the whole weekend with drying times, smoothing, finishing, etc. when all I wanted to do was to test with a simple body swap :slap

We shouldn’t have to do any of that, and it’s actually really frustrating me. Currently don’t have issues with my figure, but reading that it could self destruct on me at any point is giving me real mixed feelings about keeping it.

Yeah I agree with the other Osborn there, these aren’t DIY kits lol. And for the prices they charge us, they shouldn’t have a self destruct feature like this.

I agree. It almost reminds me of the old Medicom bodies where you'd just look at them and they'd disintegrate. I'm surprised to see it happen right out the gate with these. I've only ever had it happen years later. Still sucks and is unacceptable no matter when it happens though.

Anakin just self destructed at the waist. I'm on the last hour of my return window, and requested a refund. Let's see what they say in the morning. But I am DONE with this line. I just want the money I paid back, could not care less about the RP I used on this self destructing figure.

Ha, brings a new meaning to the phrase ‘in-hand pictures don’t do it justice.’
It’s far worse than your eyes can even comprehend.

The crazy thing is- mine are still on PO and I’m even looking forward to getting Cad Bane. Superglue at the ready!

I prefer museum poses…I hardly ever put my 1/6 figures in very dynamic poses…

I have no problem supergluing the figure at the waist or wherever else is needed to help keep a museum pose. I wonder if I will even have to since I won’t be using much of the joints anyway?

That being said…yes, a shame that at this price point we have to consider glueing the figure upon unboxing. :(

The only figure this body would work for:

I’m sorry to hear that though. I hope you get your money back, including RPs. This is not acceptable.

It wouldn’t be acceptable for a $20 doll to fall apart that easily, let alone a figure that costs this much.

This is a product that should actually be recalled, but we know that won’t happen. I’ve been through 5 of these bodies myself, all with the same defect. FYI: except for the shins, forearms and neck overlay, these are these exact same body as their ROTJ Luke Skywalker. So if that product was lucky enough, you could use the waist piece and just switch it out. It’s actually the only easy piece to do a straight swap by unscrewing the waist piece from the back.
I was looking ant a Mythos Boba body to see if those waist pieces would be compatible…they’re not. It also just snapped and broke at the same area, even though they are completely different. Sideshow is just using a cheap plastic mix and a puzzling design. I’ve Frankensteined enough product from tons of companies, and the only one that’s been comparable is the old Medicom body. And even that held together longer before crumbling at the joints.

Unreal. I've bought only a few SS sixth scales over the years. It really sucks because they hit on some awesome pieces that we just don't (and likely won't for a long time if ever) get from HT. I really, REALLY wanted this line to be great. I was almost tempted to buy them with the $25 off coupons and some RP's, but I can't. I just can't after all the broken bodies. I really thought the Grievous v2 debacle would've taught them a less finally, but no. The only way I'll get them now is if they're HEAVILY discounted and even then, I'd likely keep them in a museum pose.

The sad thing is. I want a 1/6 animated clone wars line. So, I’m (and others) are stuck with a 1/6 mixed media, semi posable figure. Yoda is concerning, but if something breaks, it can be glued and covered up with clothes (like Ani & Obi). But what about Ahsoka? Is the seamless body made by phicen? Or Sideshow? If Sideshow, I’d worry about that seamless body cracking in no time and beyond repair.

Great , I just paid good money for a TOD Indy.
