More than likely you are correct.
Reactions so far have been indicated to be lukewarm. As expected. Not a bad movie, but nothing to write home about.
Terminator Genisys should make this movie look good though.

Give it time, in a few years Russo's and Gunn won't be in talking terms with Marvel.
Just how Marvel wants it, get artist to hate them so that they don't have to continue paying big money for them to hang around, new blood is much cheaper.
I worked at a place that as soon as a manager started making good money they would make their lives miserable enough to force them to quit so that they could hire a new manager with a cheaper salary.
Every department worked the same way.
