I'm not sure why his friends annoy people. They were fine and I'm one that gets annoyed by dumb ****. I give the movie 8/10. Really good start for a franchise not lot of people had hope for. Anyone that says this movie is "awful" has an agenda.

I liked
that fight scene with falcon. That was legit. Also loved the.post credits scenes. It did seem anticlimactic with cap finding bucky in that situation but it did the job in gaining my full attention. This movie tied really well with the MCU. Can't believe that they made Douglas look so young at the beginning!

Just got back. I really enjoyed the movie. Hope to see a lot more of the retro Ant-Man and Wasp somehow. That would be fun.

Douglas was brilliant and Rudd and Lilly were both superb as well...

... and I look forward to seeing them both as Avengers :)

Also, bring on Giant-Man and Goliath :rock

The pacing was incredible.

Liked Rudd, loved Lilly, Douglas was casted perfectly.

But like most YJ was pretty forgettable but eh oh well.

I have no agenda. I was expecting something great and got something meaningless. Its summer popcorn at its most uninspired.

I am now convinced Disney buys critics because there is just no way this movie deserves an 80% on RT.

Wasn't that scene with them in the van and those cops just horrible, like Punisher WZ horrible.

Every scene with his friends were horrible, reviews said that Pena stole the show.

He didn't.

The action plus Douglas, Lilly, Rudd and Stoll did.

I still enjoyed AOU more.

But Ant-Man was a fun thrill ride.

I did not full on hate them like you did... Believe it or it Ulton's jokes bothered me more... But I expected him to be a super bad ass, I had no expectations with the guys in Ant man... Plus I laughed at the story telling and the "he's a Gypsy" line.

I think because I was there with my two boys who thought they were funny helped me not get too annoyed as they thought they were funny.

Crazy that people are saying they stole the show though... Not the case at all.

They're in it so much though. If you don't like them, then how did you like the movie!? :lol

They were just unfunny... not unlikable. I think that helps. Film could have done without them though.

Yup, it was a funny line from that cop about the ant, but then ruined later on with what you said.

Again I think I liked that scene just fine because I had my two boys with me... I knew they would think it was cool... In all honesty, as a fan of 50's sci/fi I liked it also :)

For what little happened first 3 quarters of the film... Yes the pacing was good... I don't know how it will hold up to repeat viewing though. I could see it being a tad boring.

Yeah, Gypsy line was funny.

My son laughed at all the silly stuff, especially big Thomas. :lol

He did notice that they didn't have the toot toot from the trailer, he was waiting for that

I missed the toot toot myself. :lol

Same here with the boring part, that could be the case.

But there was more good than bad in this movie, same way how I feel about AOU.

The friends were the only annoying part but they were not too bad, just not needed.

The main cast was perfect. Great chemistry together for sure. Another big plus were the ants! They used them a lot and were very likable.
I also never thought I would have loved this more than AOU but it is a much better film IMO. I will see it again for sure.

I'm glad you dont provide reviews then.

For me it ranks underneath the original Iron Man and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and ties with Guardians of the Galaxy for Number 3.

If someone told me at the beginning of Summer that I was going to like Ant-Man ALOT more then Avengers: AOU, I would have said they were nuts.

WOW!

And all the rest of you agree for the most part. I look forward to yet another good movie for this rather fantastic summer.

Although I fear my expectations just leaped forward and maybe you need to see this expecting nothing.

I really disagree, and 80% is about what this film deserves, it was pretty fantastic. The two action scenes were fantastic and the humor was great. I was on the floor laughing when Pena was telling his I know a guy that heard from a guy stories, especially that second one, I really wasn't expecting a movie this funny.
I was also actually full on sad when Cross shot the Ant,
I actually felt more in that one scene than I have in most of all of marvels films, so it gets major points from me just for that.

I really hope this film kills it at the box office because of all the Marvel films, this is the one I want a sequel to the most. Now that the training is out of the way this has the potential to be Marvels best franchise, especially with that mid credits scene.

I do believe that since you're not an MCU fanatic like me, DiFabio, Gaspar, EvilFace, Clown, and Riddick you will end up liking JW more.

an MCU fanatic like Riddick
To be a fanatic I have to love at least 80% of it.
Not gonna happen. :lol

Iron Man, First Avenger, The Avengers and Winter Soldier were the only good (75% rating or higher) MS films so far.
Still haven't seen Ant-Man, had to move the viewing to Monday morning.

I think this is helped by all the FUBAR stuff that came before it. It took so long to get on screen and with Wright leaving and all the other stuff. The buzz around Guardians was that it was Marvel's first flop and so everyone went in with basement level expectations and loved it. Then this was supposed to be a hodgepodge of horrible and so people went in with subatomic expectations and they love it. There were reviewed posted titled: "Holy ****, It Worked: A Review of ‘Ant-Man’" and comments with "This is honestly the most fun I’ve ever had at a Marvel movie."

I loved a lot of it. The forgettable villain was one of the major things that took the score down and the story wasn't that original but overall I liked so much that I'm taking my son to see it on Thursday because he loves the commercials.

One of the funniest reviews of it I saw started like this:

Welcome to The Superficial review of Ant-Man, a movie that by all rights should’ve crashed and burned on the runway spawning a thousand think-pieces on “The End of Marvel” in its wake, but instead pulled off a serviceable, entertaining flight and stuck the landing. As for why I went with an airplane metaphor back there is anyone’s guess, but more importantly, let’s talk about how adorable Paul Rudd is for way too long. Why lie to ourselves about what’s going to happen here?

That said, let me save you some reading real quick:

If you’re a parent and are debating taking the little ones to see it, Ant-Man is by far the most family-friendly of the Marvel films – Yes, even more than an alcoholic raccoon with a machine gun. I didn’t believe it myself. – and that’s actually not a bad thing. The kids in the movie theater I saw it in laughed their asses off and went bananas over the action pieces. That said, I am physically and emotionally prepared to punch your child in the ear if he/she gets between me and the Ant-Man LEGO set even though most of them could easily dominate me without breaking a sweat. We’ve got to stop putting hormones in our food!

If you want a better-written review about how the Marvel movies have obviously become an assembly-line production at this point, which shouldn’t be a surprise by now, Vince Mancini has you covered. I, on the other hand, am mostly going to talk about how I like being repeatedly bent over and found the lube surprisingly pleasant with a cool tingle this time.

WE RIDE! *tries to mount ant, gets punched out by an antennae*

It was a hit as far as I'm concerned and I'm actually looking forward to the next installment given the little hint at the end and the mid-credit spoilers, both of which I have a feeling will come to pass in the next one.

Just came back from it, it was good.

Although I don't get the people who say it's better than The Winter Soldier :lol

I was surprised the entire audience caught the Spiderman reference.

Plot was tight, Villain was good, not great but good, decent compared to their last efforts.

So yeah, overall good addition to the series.

Just got back....entertaining. Didn't blow my socks off, but what was good was very good (the effects), what worked well worked very well (Rudd, Douglas & Lilly...the other Marvel elements) and what wasn't so hot didn't kill the movie (the "comedy relief" trio, Cory Stall).

At least I wasn't checking the time hoping it was over soon (like Ultron...only saw it once...not in a hurry for another viewing)...despite it's sometimes clunky tone, it moved quick enough.

It succeeded in making me want to see this character again...and I really liked the final teaser scene.

Another good effort from Marvel Studios,,,,

I'm also in the camp of good but not great. A solid effort but had some flaws that fortunately didn't kill the movie. Rudd had to carry the movie on his own, with a little support from Pena but that was about it.

Btw for those who've seen it,
does anyone have a shot of the prototype Wasp suit they showed in the end credits?
