We had one person at work get it and she was out for a week.. I dind't hear all the stories but I guess she had a bit of a rough time. I got my swine shot and I rarely get sick so I think I am lucky.

I know a few people. They said it's no different from having the regular flu. Not fun, but no worse.

Get well soon!!!

My wife just tested positive for the swine flu and I'm starting to think I might have it too. Any other freaks have to deal with this yet?

Geez man, really sorry to hear about this. At least your 14 month old is staying with the relatives. Best course of action there. Hope you and the wife get well soon!:D

They are offering shots now in my area. I thought about it for a second. However, I have a ton of sick time to use. So if I get sick I will break out the games and beer and make it a vacation. :D

My sister and niece got it a couple months ago, no big deal, dont buy into the hype.

H1N1 is the Avatar of flus.

My Wife had it in November, she was sick for about 5 days, the second day being the worse. I took care of her ofcourse everyday until she got better. I went to get tested 2 days after she was diagnose by her doctor, but it came back negative. But they put me on Thermaflu pills once a day for 10 days and my Wife was given the same except she had to take 2 a day for 5 days. All in all, it was not as bad as I thought it would be or how the news make it out to be, she had the seasonal flu once before a few years back and it felt/looked(what she went through) exactly the same.

So it's went like this so far for the wife: Sunday and Monday were typical cold symptoms. Coughing, sneezing, sore throat.

She sounded like crap Tuesday morning at 2 am when I got up to feed and change the boy, coughing pretty bad, so I went to sleep in the spare room. She called me when I got to work that day and told me she was staying home then called me around noon to tell me her temp was at 103 and she was aching, sweating, chills etc. So I meet her at the doctor's office where she's sitting in the waiting room and she looks like total crap. Anyway, they take her in, check her out and shove a cotton swab about 4" into her nose to see if she has swine.

We go home and I take off again to get her prescription of 'tamiflu' (I think that's how it's spelled). Anyway, she takes it and sleeps for 4 hours and she was a lot better... Still coughing last night and today and she says she's still achy and crap but yeah, could be worse.

From what I've heard from the doctor it can be bad when it's untreated and gets to your chest...

So since I have to be around the wife they gave me this 'tamiflu' too... it has a s-load of side effects so when I take it I feel like crap for a couple hours but other than that I think I might just avoid this thing...

BTW, Aliens, Mad Max BTD, then Alien are on AMC tonight... so at least I got that going for me, which is nice. :rock

My daughter got the H1N1 vaccine and then the booster shot. She's fine. I say if you have the opportunity to get the shot, get it.

If you are scared of vaccines, you are fail.

:lol No, the boy got them all and the wife and I got the flu shot but the H1N1 wasn't readily available to adults here in the bay area... if we could have gotten it we would have. I know what you mean though... I know some peps that have young kids and don't get them vaccinated... total fail....

I don't think you can tell anyone who makes educated decisions for their loved ones a fail. :lecture

I are not fail and I are not scared. Don't like them and are allowed to not.

Why don't you like them?

They save lives. Even if the flu hardly effects you, you could inadvertently pass it on to someone who, down the line, could give it to some elderly person or young child.

Not trying to preach on a soap box, but having frail grandparents and a young child puts it into perspective for me.

You are talking about "at risk" people so to speak. Sam doesn't fall into that category.

You're an adult though... No vaccines for a child is an awfully risky proposition. I know if I failed to get my kid a vaccine because Jenny McCarthy or some other douche influenced me by saying they're detrimental only to have my boy get sick? Well, I'd never forgive myself.:sick
