Mine only took about 5 min. I like the changes so far. about time you have have folders for the apps. cleaned up a lot of stuff on the screen. went from 6 screens down to two.

The multi-tasking is okay and the new email works great especially with having 6 emails sync'd to my phone.

My local Wal-Mart said they'll be getting their stock tonight, so hopefully they, and other retailers, will know what the deal is with the white iPhone.

Until then, :panic: + :monkey2 = me

Being as Best Buy called all of their white iphone customers already I don't think you will be in luck. Although I hope they tell you differently. Keep holding on to the dream man! :rock

LOL! No joke! Im considering returning my iPhone 4 now. Watched some videos on the new Droid X and I really think they are spanking Iphone in what that can do. Damn I am so back and forth on these two companies. Droid has a leg up because of Verizon. :gah::gah::gah:

I don't go to the movies enough times in the course of an average day to need to leave the Fandango app running in the background.

Yeah. That's an odd one.

I believe you are both being shortsighted with the functionality of this app having background capabilities. See, shutting an app used to mean that you'd have to essentially restart it. Let's say I'm trying to meet my wife for the movies, head over to Fandango type in the theater, see what's playing. Now I can back out of it, call or text her and tell what is up, if she doesn't like my choice, I can bounce back into the app and pick up right where I left off, then let's say I go to pick a movie and the showing is sold out, I can leave that screen and find out if she wants a later time or different movie via text or even the face to face app now. It works for those decision making times in general.

I updated my iPhone to the 4.0 OS but somehow all of my data was lost. I thought it was backed up and as I was going through the procedure of updating it completely wiped out everything!! I still have all of my apps but I lost all of my contacts, pictures, text, etc.

Does someone know how to fix this or am I totally screwed? I have a 3g but that shouldn't have been a problem though. The updates in the past all worked fine for me.

Everything you just described could have been done with the previous OS. With the previous OS, a program could write a small amount of data to memory in order to "remember" where it left off.

Well, I'm glad that my new iPhone is on the way, because updating my old 3G model to the new iOS completely nerfed it.

It has become horribly slow and unresponsive. There is a good 2-5 second lag pretty much every time I press the home button or touch the screen. Navigating websites just isn't happening. I try to type and after tapping the first letter, I literally start counting to ten before it finally appears. My data is still there (sorry, Carbo!), but it has never been this sluggish in the almost two years that I've owned it--all because this new update turned it into an expensive paperweight.

And Kabukiman is correct--my Fandango app remembers where I left off, and returns me to the theater showtimes listing I was previously viewing when I back out of the app and return later. (At least, it did before the update today.)

:clap:clap:clap

I seriously can't believe they're gonna release these a day early!

Been playing with the new OS on my 3Gs and I really like it. Moves quick and it switches between programs easily. Also like that ibooks is now available for it. I like being able to read short stories while waiting at places.

Biggest benefit is the mail. I have 8 accounts that I can read all at once now. saving me from having to move from account to account.
