It is a dumb B movie with nice special effects and horrible dialogs. It was good at parts but the rest was just bad. WB just cannot get their act together. I am gonna watch Throne of Atlantis this night to erase the memory of this movie. It is at the level of a bad Marvel movie...like Iron Man 2 for example. It is very sad to see that WB is struggling like this and they have 80 years old Comic history and great characters at their disposal...and yet they did not even managed to make one great movie with the new DCEU. Wonder Woman was the best but even that is far from great.

Just got home!

That has to be the MOST EPIC and FUN cheesy Superhero B movie ever made!!!!

I MUST HAVE OM Gold and Silver costumes on my shelf things of beauty they were!

The freaking hero museum poses JM was pulling off at the end were amazing he owned that role!

Mera was an amazing beautiful bad ass.

BM pulling off those Power Rangers poses just wow!

Dolph looked great!

FUN FUN FUN and fast paced and thrilling!

Great fights and great visuals especially with Mera.

BM was properly used and his ending had some really incredible things going on with it.

Way too long for its own good but the character arcs actually freaking worked!

Sure the plot can’t get anymore simpler than this we’re talking about Sesame Street level drama here but the emotional beats all worked for me.

Some things defied reasoning like why AM/Mera wasted their time on a boat when they can swim so freaking fast!

It was Flash Gordon BUT with a massive budget gloriously put up on the screen.

Blows away WW!

Music was very cool in parts.

What a grand spectacle it was!

Shazam is in trouble lol

BUT........

Time to put the brakes on my enthusiasm!

Unlike MCU movies I don’t know if I could ever sit thru this plodding drama ever again though!

I thought it was more entertaining than the Last Jedi. The undersea battles were better than watching bombers explode and old skimmers fly towards monkey walkers. Aquaman had friggin sharks with laser beams! I’ll take that over BB-8 in a walker and some crystal foxes any day!

Remember it’s a simple B movie cheesefest but what a glorious simple B movie cheesefest it was.

I just found the whole underwater thing to be quite majestic.

The sharks and sea horses > BP armored Rhino!

As simple as the plot beats and character arcs were I still emotionally connected with them.

Sure inconsistencies and cheesy acting acting were plentiful but my fist pumping was also plentiful.

2 words: Fun and Thrilling!

Was it better for me than IW or TA or CW or TWS.....NO it wasn’t.

It felt like a Ray Harryhausen movie.

Trailer ruined some important scenes good job WB lol

But even though it was ruined in the trailer it still managed to deliver the intended impact so that’s how I know the movie was doing something right.

Funny how the MCU is the serious franchise now and the DCEU is the cheesefest franchise lol

JL was bad cheese this was great cheese!

This is now my favorite DCEU movie it made AM a bad ass how can it NOT be!

Think about that for a second JAWS, JL made Batman a wuss and this movie made AM a bad ass!

Also AM in this movie a billion times better than AM in JL.

Anyways it was a great time at the movies with my wife and son!

I’m actually happy you brought up those specific battles and i’m sorry but I still give the nod to the IW Wakanda battle just because it had way more consequences attached to it.

IW can’t be touched simply because of the 10 year build up.

I also do think they screwed up giving

Aquaman too much power with controlling the animals because he could’ve used it much earlier to end the overall battle.

So you liked the characters in this movie? I just don't want to do watch another empty spectacle with characters I'm not actively rooting for after JL and BP.

This movie is a downright masterpiece when compared to JL.

JL was empty and void of drama.

This is a Ray Harryhausen Sinbad Flash Gordon movie on steroids with characters going all out in a bravado display of passion.

Take WW entering the battlefield and x it by a 1,000 at sometimes a breathtaking fist pumping pace.

I'm not gonna lie, JAWS comparing Blank Mantis to Dark Helmet didn't exactly make me want to see it less, lol. Because even if it's bad and I can laugh *at* it then that still counts as a good time, lol.

His voice did throw me off but his physicality was intense, brutal and kinetic so it made up for it.

Something happens to him that was unique and had my jaw on the ground during it very unique how it was presented.

But I did mention in my review that he had his Power Ranger pose and feel during one scene you can’t miss it I think the camera even zoomed in on him lol

This was a superbly polished B movie.

I think he actually did his karate jerk movement pose when the camera zoomed in on him and his costume actually jiggled like a bowl of jello

Ok it’s not that good.

No I think it plays it to safe to be a meme generating machine.

But I can’t stress enough just how freaking gorgeous OM gold costume looked (not the head crown piece though) with the cape billowing behind him and his freaking super bad ass chrome silver mask.

It reminded me of Excalibur armor and Mordred’s mask.

Even AM looked spectacular in his costume super imposing regal and powerful.

I’m telling you a crowd pleasing B movie I know what i’m talking about because everyone clapped at the end lol

Did you see it in 3D? Does the aspect ratio switch between IMAX/non-IMAX? This might be good fodder for a $5 Tuesday at the local Dolby Vision/Atmos auditorium.

Do not see it in 3-D I repeat do not see it in 3-D save your money because the visuals are too busy and too much stuff going on for 3-D to be effective especially with it being underwater and murky.

I didn’t even bother with 3D knowing that was going to be the case.
