Sorry to hear that, RoboDad.

"It's a fiasco!"

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Mines out for delivery as well. Though I probably won't be home till after they try so I hope the guy tries the firestation or is willing to just leave it. Then I can worry about if its broken or not.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Hmmm, with the amount of breakage on this piece ordering him cheaper from a dealer or ebay seller that might not have SSC's level of customer service sounds like quite the gamble.

Trouble is I still don't know that I feel the changes in sculpt and paint warrant full retail direct from SSC. This piece will probably be a pass for me. :(

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

I just spent a few minutes examining the situation, and to be honest, I don't know how Sideshow can overcome this issue, short of redoing the hair sculpt.

When I attach the broken piece by hand, it sits at least a quarter of an inch away from the forehead (maybe even a bit more). And given how thin it is, I don't see any way it could be better supported during shipping that wouldn't be problematic to unpack. As it is, the lock of hair sits way too close to the Styrofoam packaging, and even a slight jarring while on a truck could easily snap it off.

As others have noted, there is a peg inside the hair that appears to be there to add support, but it is woefully inadequate to the task. What I think they should have done is make that lock wire-supported all the way to the tip. Maybe even make it out of coated wire, similar to the hair on the Dagobah Luke PF.

As it is, I suspect it is going to be a massive issue for Sideshow, and I question whether many of us will ever end up with a satisfactory resolution. Even a replacement will only stand a 50/50 chance of getting through unscathed. I've requested a replacement, and I'll wait to see what happens. But, if the replacement is also broken, then I may end up just requesting a refund. I don't want to have to deal with something that fragile.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

My styrofoam had indentations where it looked like Aragorn's head rubbed against it. I think the opening for his head was too small, so any jarring movement during shipping caused it to rub against the styrofoam and break off the hair. I would have rather had this piece of hair glued down against his forehead.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Mines arrived and I should get a chance to look at it in an hour. I'm a bit worried honestly.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

I can't say enough about how impressed I am with this piece.

I know. that just makes me that much more upset. Aside from the breakage, the piece is nearly flawless. And mine even lucked out to have no wandering eye problem AT ALL.

To those who have received broken pieces, what would you do if Sideshow did offer us a partial refund (say $50-75), but we then keep the piece as is, and fix it ourselves?

I would be up for a partial refund - as it will be difficult to notice the break on mine once it's been repaired....though I don't think SSC does that.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

If Sideshow offered a partial refund, I think I'd break mine that came in one piece. :D I'm surprised it made it from California to Georgia on UPS and arrived together.

I though I remembered someone telling about having that option once, but I could be wrong. But it might be a nice way for them to "solve" the issue at less cost.
