Re: Aragorn PF!!!

No, it bothers me that sellers try to create artificial value over numbers when there isn't any. Personal preference is...well personal. I just don't want to hear someone tell me a piece is worth more because of a low number when it clearly isn't. It just makes suckers out of uninformed noobs.

But once again, that's a matter of opinion, not fact. It may not be more valuable to you, but it may be to someone else. When I used to own the Iron Man exclusive maquette, the number '8' that "sat in the dark" on the base was kind of important to me. And when I ended up selling it (one of the worst collecting mistakes I've ever made, BTW), I made mention of the number. I didn't say "this makes it more valuable", but in the end it did anyway.

Well, I don't know. I think the business about numbers is silly -- it's nothing more than a curiosity to me and I wouldn't pay any more for a particular number, or a low number. But there are some people who will, so I'm not sure that it's entirely wrong to say that, say, a #1 is more valuable than a #1684.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

That's great that numbers aren't important you you guys, but I hope you aren't trying to say that people who do like having lower numbers are wrong to do so.

It's a matter of personal preference and collecting style. Does it bother you that much that a low number might motivate some other collector?

It doesn't bother me at all. That's cool that there are those who like to collect certain numbers or low numbers. I have a few low numbered pieces and I was excited to get them. I however prefer the art over the number. The sculpt, paint job, and detail that make me want to collect certain pieces..:D

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

To each his own. Half the time I never check my number anyway. Usually it's written on the box. The number stays in the dark till I sell it. When someone sees my SIM and are impressed I don't say "It's number 21 of 1250. Want me to turn it over so you can see?"

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

And maybe that is where some of the misunderstanding comes from. I don't know anyone who prefers the number over the art. But for a particular piece that a collector wants, what is wrong with preferring a lower number over a higher one?

Nothing at all...Sorry, maybe I worded that wrong. All I meant was that the numbers weren't that important to me. I enjoy collecting certain statues for what they are...(like the new aragorn PF!!, which is awesome by the way and I'm not even sure which number I have..:lol)..Hope that's as clear as mud...:D

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

I thought that whole #42 thing was just for Boba Fett. You need a new number dude.

I failed to get Fett #42. So I am still on the lookout, regardless of the piece. It's my lucky number and one day I would like a collectible with that printed on the bottom for nobody to see but for me to know it's there.

But Tom, haven't you realized it yet? You DID get #42! You actually got THREE of 'em! See, 42 * 3 = (drum-roll...) 126!

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

I had a chance to purchase the Yoda VS. Dooku faux bronze #42 at a fair price, but I had to choose between that and the Speeder Bike PF, and my wife and I agreed that I should get the PF instead. So that was probably my one chance, and I let it pass me by...

I'm sure there'll be others.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Just got mine, same hair breakage but I just glued it together and left it be. Not worth sending back IMHO. You'll be able to see the breakage though with the macro shot. I love the dirty hands, nice touch.

I'm still deciding on whether to use the knife hand or not.
