Hey, Fox is pissed because Reagan wasn't mentioned in it.

You can't please everyone. This wasn't a documentary.

Competently made movie wins because it strokes Hollywood's sense of self-importance.

Yippee. Congrats, Argo.

This movie is a sham that completly diminishes Canada's lead role in the events. It's as silly as if Canada made a movie about the Mounties apprehending Osama.

Its all coming out now isn't it.

I knew it was BS when I first saw it. It left me very confused at the end. I just have the vindication that my confusion was for naught. It was BS. I don't get why this turned into some CIA propaganda crap. The real story was exciting enough as is.

I just wanted to get Valfar and others going again... Still, movies based on true events should be 100 percent accurate. Get in a flippin' time machine Ben Afleck and video tape the scenario!

*pokes Ween*

So in otherwords you're trolling. ;) :p

I think the best thing to do is just what Leonard Maltin said at the end of Valfar's video; "never get your history from the movies."

This is true but it appears many on here rely on movies for their history.:cuckoo:

Ok F'it one last time..

The movie didn't have to be 100% accurate(even though the real story was good enough IMO), what bothers me the most are the changes made to the story which make the Canadians look like cowardly,stupid/yes-men who didn't deserve recognition for the execution and finialization of this operation and instead, making such a disgraceful change ending with the American/CIA ultimately taking pretty much full credit thanks to this typical planted American heroism yet again.

I am also a bit skeptical about these changes to the plot relating to the escalating tensions between Israel/US and Iran..Israel is just begging the US to start a war with Iran.

This movie should have been more about showing how two countries can form a stronger bond(because the other countries wouldn't risk taking you in) through a crisis situation, not about getting help from a friend(Canada) then snubbing them while waving your flag all over another country(Iran) at the end of the day.

I have to say, V, that I absolutely did not think the movie did anything remotely like what you describe. I thought it painted a great picture of Canadians, being the only ones to take in the Americans after all those others who turned them away.

Yes, perhaps the movie diminished Canada's involvement in the creation of the plan. I confess I don't know the real story. And I have to also add that TV news shows are also continuing this deception because TV news magazine programs are going along with what was presented in the movie: the CIA came up with the idea, got Canada to go along, and gave all the credit to Canada where it has remained until the truth was made public in 1997.

But even then, I have seen nothing at all derogatory about Canada. At all. Nothing but great praise, in fact.

Don't bother, I said the same thing to him about 5 thread pages ago and it only enraged him further. He probably didn't watch the Oscars (or even the movie- his description of it is not the version I saw) but Ben thankes Canada emphatically (for their part) when he accepted the Oscar.

I think the bigger issue is the world relies on America to make movies. Countries need to make their own films and or their own version of these events. When is the last time I saw a Canadian film.. oh wait I haven't. Even if they did make one and portrayed america poor, what are the odds I would even see it. With american movies the whole world sees them-. There are plenty of movies made here that take shots at america(n), and distort history (ever see micheal moor's 911 movie), and we make fun of ourselves. Jeez me thinks people are way to sensitive. I could understand people being upset if this was borat done Canadian style.

For all those butt hurt over this here is a quote for u from Ben afflect "Ar go **** yourself"
