Arnold's character (pun intended) has come under fire lately. Is it OK to separate how you feel about the character from how you feel about the man?

I can. I feel he has nothing to do with the creation of these characters. He is an actor. I am a fan of the films more than the person and that is how I justify keeping his figures.

Any other thoughts?

Why would you get rid of his figures either way?

I had this same issue with him when SSCs came out with their T2 stuff...I passed. My reason was because of the Tookie Williams execution. It was a silent protest and a personal decision. It was also about my desire to collect another franchise line.

Since then I've come to terms with it and like you, I've separated my disdain for him from my recognition of his talent and the characters he's played.

Everythings so politicized these days, the last thing I want is that to be creeping up in my frockin collection!!!! It's suppose to be a hobby for enjoyment and escapism!

If it came out he was a paedophile or something then it would become hard to stomach worshipping his films and owning all these figures. But hes just an unfaithful womaniser and has had some bad ideas about what is appropriate conduct towards women and obviously towards other women while married. Makes you shake your head and go ":slap Arnie....:nono" but theres far worse things than what he is.

So Terminator still rules.

I don't approve of some of the descions Arnold has made.

But he makes one awesome beefcake action star!

l would only despise him and never watch anything with him again if he molested one of his kids or something sick like that. this isn't the worst thing in the world. screwed up, but what ever. l am watching "True Lies" as we speak. l still like him along with mad mel.

Would in no way effect whether I kept his figures or not. As mentioned by A-Dev...if he was a paedophile or found out to be a mass murderer...I would probably reconsider my stand on him in general and wouldn't feel comfortable owning stuff associated with him. I think in this case I am not surprised at all about what happened. Arnold has always been this way towards women and to tell you the truth I am shocked news like this is just now coming out about it. I am certain he has slept with more women than just this one.

In either case at least he is taking it like a man and accepting his responsibilities. Still a big fan of Arnies either way though I don't agree with how he chooses to live some aspects of his life, it could be much worse.

:exactly:

I completely agree..

There's only one actor who I feel disappointed by and have a hard time separating his personal life from his professional life, and that's Jeffrey Jones. Not that that anyone would want figures of him, but he's been in some great movies and I can't help think of what he did that diminishes his work for me.

I can't stand watching OJ Simpson on the Naked Gun anymore.

But we're talking about a friggin' murderer in that case. Arnie made a bad decision - but remember it was also ten years ago. Nobody's perfect. Still a great action star and I will continue to buy Hot Toys figures of him.

Bring on Conan!

OJs still cool...albeit dumb.

I can't knock a man if he wasn't found guilty. Watching him on the tube doesn't bother me at all.

Meh. Found not-guilty doesn't mean innocent. The whole thing is just too shady for me to take that finding at face value.

Still love Arnie though.

I dont give a ____ what Arnie does nothing will ever make me get rid of my T1 T-800 or T2 T-800 there both way to badass and what Arnie did or does has nothing to do with the characters... If your worried about having him on your shelf because of what he did in real life... What does it say that you have figures of killer Terminators on your shelf in the mean time???

It's kinda been said already, but I'll put it in my own words. I love the well conceived and portrayed character of the Terminator, as well as any list of favorite icons. I do not like it because I care anything for Arnold one way or another as an actor or human being. The real Arnold is meaningless and out of mind when I look at my Terminator figures. In fact, I think the whole Terminator franchise is being spoiled by Hollywood's need to keep putting Arnold into the sequels. I love that the Predator franchise went on without him right away. I'm not hating on Arnold. Turns out he's just another celebrity screw up. So what? It's not my life. I've got my own crap to worry about.

Let me put it this way.

When I look at my collectibles I'm not thinking, "this is Arnold, this is Arnold". No, I see the collectible and see the character that I enjoy and the nostalgic feelings I had seeing the stories and character on film when I was younger. I mean yeah, it's his image, but it's also something more than that.

As a-dev suggested, yeah it might be harder if he did something more despicable than this scandal, but he hasn't. I'm not saying what he did isn't wrong or that I condone it by saying it "isn't as bad", but I don't think it justifies myself getting rid of everything I own that's associated with him.

I've known for awhile that the man was a womanizer but as I said, I'm more of a fan of his work and characters than I am of himself.
