Glad you did, Shell! :yess: :1-1: :wave

Awesome stuff ^^^^^ Turner was a brave, BRAVE soul. Immense talent, who's life was cut far too short. 'Ringo', too.

Thanks for putting out Shell. Love the art prints. We need more Fathom art.

Thanks peeps :1-1:

I think you have to go to a convention and get on a list but I'm not sure. Campbell may not be doing convention sketches anymore. :dunno

He kinda has to offer you a spot to get on his list for you to get one at all. He has so many to do for so many people that I don't think he'd even entertain taking on new people unless he really wants to do you a favor.

As far as regular convention sketches go, he raffles off tickets to get one done at conventions now. He'll take a list of names at the beginning of a show and choose a couple of people at random to get them for that day. At this years Wondercon, a guy I know was able to convince JSC to do a sketch for him on the last day because of his own special circumstances and because of how tenacious he was about going to JSC's table every day in the morning to get on his raffle list and hope to get one that way. JSC is such a nice guy that if you really have "a reason" to need to get one, he'll do it for you.

It'll take some time and effort to get a JSC original, so don't feel defeated if you can't get one immediately and easily. And don't give up if you feel like you've been trying and trying, but getting nowhere. It can and will happen one day, but you gotta be persistent :)

Yeah, I tried to talk to him about sketches at last year's SDCC. His brother tried to help him out with it by making a raffle system. When I came back to check to see if my ticket won, the raffle was cancelled and I believe the only sketch he did that weekend was one for cystic fibrosis.

Thanks IoE for the insight. I'll keep trying at it.

Congrats on the Chavez BQ Snoop, did it arrive??

Sorry i haven't posted in a while guys and Gals...Broke my foot about a week ago and have been on some powerful pain killers...today is the first day i feel normal again...but my foot still hurts like a SOB!!!! :lol

SDCC is especially hard if that's the only convention you're seeing him at. It's just so swamped with people asking him for sketches and information about how to get sketches that he doesn't have time to really get personal with people. Cory, his brother, is very cool to talk to, but I've never known him to actually be able to convince JSC to do a sketch for someone that he feels should get one.

When I got mine, it was cuz I stuck around him, got him to recognize my face, and I had a special circumstance that made him feel guilty. It took me a total of four years to get one, but the wait was worth it. But if all you want is a sketch, the guy I knew at Wondercon didn't win his raffle and was still able to get one because he was just being friendly to the guy and had a good reason that put him above everyone elses reasons (he was joining the military in the next 2 weeks and wouldn't be able to come home for a good year, and that made JSC very accommodating to him).

i'll possibly see him this weekend at the phoenix comic con. the only other time may be in san diego. after that i won't be able to attend SDCC for at least 3 years =(. so maybe if i talk to JSC about it when he's here in phx he'll consider doing a sketch or something for me? ionno we'll see i guess.

Be humbled in front of him. If you'll be seeing him all days of the convention at Phoenix, possibly coerce him into doing something for you on the last day, if he has time, and if you weren't able to win his raffles anyways. If it doesn't work out, let him know you'll be trying to see him at SDCC and you're gonna try really hard to see him there. A little can go a long way with JSC and if it doesn't work out at Phoenix Con you've at least set up ground work for a possible SDCC sketch.

Don't be afraid to hang at his table, watch him draw, ask him (thoughtful) questions, and just come off as a guy who loves the industry and you should be all good. Just popping up and disappearing on him in 10 minute bursts never really work, and even if you're feeling like you're stepping on peoples toes while doing it, do it. Just do it nicely ;)
