Re: Art Books

I just picked up the Jim Lee Icons book from Amazon, and it arrived today with a small bent corner. It's not really noticeable with the dust jacket on, but it's there and I'm wondering if I should replace it and chance getting another one in as good a shape??

What do you guys think?

Amazon has always been good with shipping books to me. I have not gotten a damaged book but I have gotten stuff that I have had to return. they fax or email you a return label. I don't mind damaged books, if I do it myself...but that's just me

Agreed, While not always padded up. They are shrink wrapped tight and I never got a bad one yet. But let me not jinx myself.

Send it back, it doesn't cost them or you a thing. Ever since I returned a couple books they have been sending mine shrink wrapped and better packaged.

good advice Ill. I returned the exact same book for the exact same reason. It's quick too, the moment you you request a return label another book is shipped to you the same day. You then have 25 days If I remember correctly? - to return the damaged book or you get charged for both. just throw it back in the box, slap the label they give you on there, drop it off at a UPS store somewhere and go about your day :lecture

:exactly:

I think they give you 30 days for the item to reach them. But it really is such a easy and painless process. Amazon Rocks.

Re: Art Books

Wow, it seems Amazon isn't going to help me out with my packaging problems for the Jim Lee Icons book.

They sent a replacement, again packaged in the same exact size box with one sheet of plastic shipping material on top, and it came beat up with more crumpled corners. I called a second time to explain the issue and ask if there was anyone I could talk to about getting it shipped to me better protected and I was told there wasn't - that Amazon ships single books out "green" with as minimal amount of packaging as possible, and that if the item comes to me a third time with a problem that they would stop sending exchanges and just refund me my money back.

The gal on the phone went on to say that since it's shipping out in overnight/two day shipments the warehouse packages things as quickly as possibly with as minimal packaging as possible and that since there are so many packages being shipped out in a day that Amazon can't contact them to put any guidelines on the packaging itself.

At least she felt sympathetic and gave me a $10 credit at the site for my troubles, but still - Wth!? :(

Re: Art Books

That sucks man, they've always fixed the problem for me. Was the book still shrink wrapped? If it wasn't you can ask them to send you one that is, that usually helps to reduce damage during shipment.
