Re: Art Books

That sucks man, they've always fixed the problem for me. Was the book still shrink wrapped? If it wasn't you can ask them to send you one that is, that usually helps to reduce damage during shipment.

Was the Icons book supposed to be shrink wrapped at all?

Hopefully I'm not confusing the term, but both the first and replacement book came to me without any shrink wrap on them on top of the Amazon shrink wrap that they do to books for shipping (when they shrink wrap the book to a large piece of flat cardboard and fit a larger box around it all so there's no damage done during transit).

In all cases, nothing of mine was shrink wrapped and apparently I can't ask for it to be done at all =/

Re: Art Books

My Icons book from amazon did not come shrink wrapped.

AH's Cover RUn did though.

Maybe try just going to your local Barnes and Noble or Borders and pick it up yourself in person if you keep having bad luck with amazon's shipping. Even at full retail price the book is still VERY worth the money.

Re: Art Books

I have the Making of Empire Strikes Back coming this week from Amazon. I always worry about how books will arrive from them. :panic:

I may have to go the Borders or B&N route if it comes effed up.

Mine came ! So happy with it and the price was perfect !

It came to me tightly plastic wrapped to a cardboard backing. I had no issues with mine. :monkey3

Still need to order this one and the first book. Cannot wait to have a few extra bucks to do this.

When the book itself isn't shrink wrapped, they wrap it to a piece of cardboard. I would at least 3/4 of the books I get have come wrapped.

I've found that the best way to avoid any damage is to have them send it to you Gift Wrapped. I received Tangled as a gift yesterday and it was perfect inside the wrapping.

Sometimes the books at stores are beat to hell far worse than anything you'd receive from Amazon. Unless they still have wrapped copies on the shelf.

My ESB book showed up yesterday in a box with a couple bubble things and that's it. Luckily it wasn't damaged or anything. The only time I've had a book shrinkwrapped to cardboard is if it's shipped with smaller items like CDs or DVDs.

I may have to try that Gift Wrap option.

Just SpenK in the Sucker Punch thread, i think. I'm gonna have to get it, though, for the collection. Then i'll have the regular to flip through and the limited edition to look purty in my collection :D

Re: Art Books

My Sucker Punch book arrived yesterday from Amazon, but one of the corners was damaged. I requested an exchange and the new one arrives tomorrow, I haven't even shipped back the damaged one yet!

Re: Art Books

Anyone else pick up The Art of Neal Adams?

I guess I was spoiled by the Adam Hughes one and the Jim Lee - but this Neal Adams is pretty bad. He and his son created it and it has multiple pages of Ben Casey, but only a couple of Batman. Seems much more of an ego thing than an actual review of his work. I was extremely disappointed with it, and I'm a big fan - he was the guy that really got me into Batman.

It was on my list of books to get, but there were so many before it. Looks like I can scratch it off the list. Thanks Dave.
