1/6 Art Figures 018 – Boy Black aka Vin Diesel as Riddick from the Riddick Trilogy.
I had my doubts after the first promoshots of ordering this figure,
But after having it in hand, no regrets at all!
Art Figures hits another home run!
like-emoticon
Sometimes the headsculpts of Art Figures, are not quite accurate, somtimes they have a cartoony feel to them.
But with Riddick I haven’t had that at all, he looks great!
Only his eyes could have been done better, with a different paintjob (something that would shine a bit more maybe) that would pop, but it isn’t bad for sure!
I am affraid tho, that with the goggles, if you maybe move them up and down too much, that it can rub the paint of the headsculpt or if you keep the goggles on too long, it can leave paint of the goggles itself.
But that’s something that can only be found out after a while to be sure.
The body is great, especially the skinetone goes great with the headsculpt, the only thing that bothers me is that his upperarms seem a bit thin.
It could be that they chose for this on purpose, cause that way the arms look more flat next to the body, instead of giving it the look he is carrying something around under his armpits all the time.
From the side, you won’t notice it that much, but when your looking at the figure from the front, you will notice the skinny upper arms for sure.
I also broke 3 handpegs during posing, so becareful of that!
Be sure to heat up the arms/hands before changing them.
What surpised me, is that you get a total of 5 hands, 2 voor the Ulaks/Knife/Dagger, 2 bendable hands (which is a sure thing for Art Figures) and only 1 right fist, why no left one?
About his outfit there isn’t much to complain about, his tanktop forms nicely onto his body,
The armgauntlets are a bit tight, but with some effort you can use them to cover up the joints at the hands and elbows.
His cargopants are nice, not to tight and not to baggy, only his boots, don’t really allow you to pose.
His boots don’t come with their own peghole, but there is an actually foot inside the boot, so it can move around quite a bit in the boot, which can cause it to stand unstable, since there isn’t a display stand provided.
The weapons are really nicely done, the Irgun knife is sadly made of plastic, where as the other weapons are made of metal like the Ulaks.
I don’t know the name of the other dagger/sword, it looks like a saberclaw, but not quite.
The handcuffs are made of plastic, and you can take them apart, just like in the movies when Riddick breaks out of them, which is a nice touch and offers some more display options.
His backpack with waterhose looks good, and you can store the Ulaks in them quite nicely, the only missing thing, is his breather on his belt, which would have completed the look.
In short a really well made , good looking figure with very few cons.
I am already looking forward to what Art Figures will bring us next!
Enjoy the pics!
