Are people confused or just being sarcastic? The EX head is the pony tailed head which looks terrible, IMO. The regular head is the long haired portrait that looks nice, but would have looked much better if they didn't whiteout her eyes. Guess that is one way to get around the googly eye problem.

The hair on the regular head went up too much, kinda bulky and weird. And the ponytail head reminds me of the 90's cartoon which is totally cool so no I am not confused nor being sarcastic. EX head looks awesome IMO and that's how I am going to display her ;)

her fingers don't match up with her temple on the EX.

just all around disappointing. The fact they couldn't get the hair color right is ****ing stupid.

paint her gotdamn hair red! for **** sake.

:lol Sorry Rulk, I just find it kind of funny.

Though it really isn't, considering how much you invested in their statue. I'd honestly wouldn't mind another delay as long as they nail the right hair color. You would think they'd pay attention to XM, which their Phoenix has RED hair. :slap

Can't win em all. There excuse will be, "Item is 360, what do you expect?" :thud:

This reminds me of a story I heard...

----

Let's say that the person you love the most has just been shot. He or she is lying in the street, bleeding and screaming. A guy rushes up and says, "Step aside." He looks over your loved one's bullet wound and pulls out a pocket knife -- he's going to operate right there in the street.

You ask, "Are you a doctor?"

The guy says, "No."

You say, "But you know what you're doing, right? You're an old Army medic, or ..."

At this point the guy becomes annoyed. He tells you that he is a nice guy, he is honest, he is always on time. He tells you that he is a great son to his mother and has a rich life full of fulfilling hobbies, and he boasts that he never uses foul language.

Confused, you say, "How does any of that ****ing matter when my [wife/husband/best friend/parent] is lying here bleeding! I need somebody who knows how to operate on bullet wounds! Can you do that or not?!?"

Now the man becomes agitated -- why are you being shallow and selfish? Do you not care about any of his other good qualities? Didn't you just hear him say that he always remembers his girlfriend's birthday? In light of all of the good things he does, does it really matter if he knows how to perform surgery?

In that panicked moment, you will take your bloody hands and shake him by the shoulders, screaming, "Yes, I'm saying that none of that other **** matters, because in this specific situation, I just need somebody who can stop the bleeding, you crazy ****ing *******."

So here is my terrible truth about the adult world: You are in that very situation every single day. Only you are the confused guy with the pocket knife. All of society is the bleeding gunshot victim.

If you want to know why society seems to shun you, or why you seem to get no respect, it's because society is full of people who need things. They need houses built, they need food to eat, they need entertainment, they need fulfilling sexual relationships. You arrived at the scene of that emergency, holding your pocket knife, by virtue of your birth -- the moment you came into the world, you became part of a system designed purely to see to people's needs.

----

Either you will go about the task of seeing to those needs by learning a unique set of skills, or the world will reject you, no matter how kind, giving, and polite you are. You will be poor, you will be alone, you will be left out in the cold.

Does that seem mean, or crass, or materialistic? What about love and kindness -- don't those things matter? Of course. As long as they result in you doing things for people that they can't get elsewhere. For you see ... It's brutal, rude, and borderline sociopathic, and also it is an honest and accurate expression of what the world is going to expect from you. The difference is that, in the real world, people consider it so wrong to talk to you that way that they've decided it's better to simply let you keep failing.

----

let someone else operate. this x-men line has gone to ****.

Wow, that was deep, though I have to say it's pretty much the fault of politics, corporations, and leeches.

I have been trying to get some customs and see others do the X line justice. Though Jean and Emma will be my last from SS. I think they are being ridiculous on their bases, and therefore ****ing up pricing. If Phoenix or Shadow Cat gets done, awesome; question is: how much?

Damn shame, cause I really love Psylocke and Rogue, and Jean's ex looks like ****.

Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

Good points Rulk. Glad I'm a specialist in my field haha but yeah...SS needs to make it Red

5 years in the making - and Im getting this POS repainted as soon as it arrives. I shouldn't have to pay full price for it when it's gonna cost another $200 at least to fix.

eyes are still wonky but I have an idea at least what I want it to look like - ****ing unbelievable. Frankenstein statue and they keep ****ing it up more and more.

LSD highlights, Frankenstein statues, yal comments are hilarious sometimes...

Anyway, the hair was ALWAYS brown. As always, when something is curious to me I asked SSAlex about this when they revealed it. I asked why Jean, characterized by her red hair, had brown hair, and her response was her hair will be auburn colored and that's the way it is.

However her hair had highlights and shading on the proto (and I don't think that's just lighting) which at least made it not as bad. The production piece seems to not have these highlights and appears straight brown.

SS has always had a problem with Marvel red heads having brown hair...old MJ com, Mystique, Black Widow, now Jean. I honestly think it's somebody in approvals at Marvel who wants really realistic red because other licenses with red head characters have red hair on the statues. I think somebody is aiming for realistic red hair which can often appear brownish in the real world, but these are fictional characters with solid red hair, it's a part of who they are.

I appreciate you posting a productive response to ease over tensions. But SSC is at fault. there's no excuse.

They shouldn't have a problem with red heads since they had 6000 of these painted and clearly they came out the way they were intended.

Every single x-men piece from the lee design has been plagued with problems including this one.

Mary Jane's hair color should've been the shade they used on Jean, hell even the new Poison Ivy hair would've been better than what we got.

Rogue and Jean have the same shade of hair color. clearly they ****ed up AGAIN.

Well I wasn't shifting any fault from SS, it's still their statue, so yeah.

But this is a recurring things with Marvel females in particular. I'm just speculating on how this keeps happening, which is why I think it could be somebody in approvals at Marvel demanding the brown hair on red heads. With JSC MJ, she's the exception to Marvel red heads, not the normal.maybe she got a pass because of the cartoony nature?

Again, I don't know, I'm just trying to use common sense to speculate how these red heads keep getting messed up this way.

For the Lee PFs, yeah they've had issues. Still love my Gambit. I think some of them had issues, I wasn't collecting when it came out so I'm not fully aware, but it seems most turned out ok from what I know. And despite Cyclops' ugly Ex, there doesn't seem to be any widespread production issues. I have a regular, it looks like Cyclops and has no issues, not sure why people kind of hate that statue. Colossus, while it could've been better, isn't bad by any means.

But the problems...I know many hate Wolverine's PJs, I never minded them although I realize they could've been executed better. Rogue should've been rethought. Her pose is dull compared to the artwork, her faces aren't good and it's not just paint. Psylocke had us all fooled and then turned into a sad mess. Now Jean is about as lackluster as it gets for a PF.

they were kinda upfront about the two aforementioned pieces

I get black widow is suppose to have auburn hair but the brown suited her

Jean's nick name is RED, she has always had RED hair. They advertised a RED head and I've NEVER seen her drawn remotely close to a brunette.

I will give you Mystique though. they made that brown for no apparent reason.

Lol at your last post.

But with Black Widow, that's where you might be a bit more forgiving than me. Maybe her hair can a bit more brown, but I see her as a red head still. The PF's hair was too dark. It could've been a darker red borderlining on brown, but it was just dark brown. I won't forgive it, but in general I like that PF so I have it. But if somebody were to one day do an action or more threatening Black Widow with a pretty face and actual red hair, the PF is out of my collection.

Same with Jean. If XM (with all their Phoenix issues right about now) or some other company in the future could nail a good looking 90s Jean with red hair this PF would be launched out of my line up quick. I love the characters so they'll stick with me until something better and more accurate pops up if it all.

I like this as a design for a Jean statue. If XM get the thumbs up I hope they do a Lee style Jean as well..

Yup. And they need to keep the extra details on the headlights, too :)

Lol your second option would've worked, too. I think 4 things would've made this Jean incredible:

1. Put her on a rock base to match Cyclops
2. Change her leg position to fit the rock base that would've matched Cyclops...how awesome would that have been to have these as an actual complimentary pair?
3. Eyes with pupils and green iris'
4. Red hair

Then they would've had a knock out.

Why don't you just get some of those Archer eye decals? Seems like the best solution here. I might even try it for the EX head, since I don't really like that head as is anyway.

I think this looks pretty decent in the pic's. Simple, but great for an X-Men lineup. Now that I have a few X-Men, and since the wife loves Jean, I am sort of looking forward to this.
