The most important thing is that both versions show up for any product where the Exclusive is waitlisted and the Regular is available. That way, people can still reserve 1 of each and secure a regular edition in case their waitlist reservation never converts.

Because there is usually no price difference now, the only reason for choosing a Regular over an Exclusive is if you think there's a good chance that you'll cancel and don't want to pay an NRD. I can understand why SSC wants to discourage that.

eBay or bust, why waste your time ordering from SS directly? With few exceptions its like flushing money down the toilet. The NRDs make it easier for me to not bother with a pre-order especially given the lag time between pre-order and release. And its funny because people still try to work the system by intentionally wait listing an item (sometimes serially) to try to time the conversion and gauge whether the piece is truly a sell out before committing. I have only kept my gimli ex on pre-order and will execute that order in a few weeks (hopefully).

I order direct through SS and it's worth ever penny to me. I get great items, great cs, the exclusives I want, RP, etc. Obviously to each his own.

Ya see I'm what you call a maximizer which is I believe a legitimate psychological condition. I can't buy anything without checking prices and making sure I am getting the best deal. I rarely buy anything on the spot, usually I save money this way, usually by not buying anything :)

That's one way of doing it. :peace

I used to think like you and still order tons from ebay but it has its problems. a lot of times the pieces that are sold on ebay even if it's brand new has paint issues. Basically the seller buys it and found out there are some issues with the statue and they dont want it so they dump it on ebay and list it as new. And they are right the piece is new, but it has small paint problems that can drive you insane. Like an eye with paint bleed over, or armor missing some paints etc.. and then there are those seller that flatout lies and give you crap/broken pieces. It's all hit and miss.

I have had that happen to me many times. Now days i prefer to order directly from sideshow and avoid all the headaches. The way i look at it, the ~$50 i am saving buying from ebay isnt worth the time I may waste returning/dealing with ebay item if it has a problem. I also have a list of trusted sellers saved on ebay that i know always sell good items.

Our hobby sure gives one a lot of headaches. For example if you collected swarovski or lladro figures, they are almost 100% guaranteed to be perfect as highend collectibles should be, not something painted by cheap chinese migrant workers and breaks easily. You guys have NO IDEA how many lotr riders i went through that has broken/cracked horse tails, legs, etc when I open the box. This whole riders series is flawed, they needed to put steel lines into the horse leg and tails so they dont crack like they did with the gollum PF arm.

True enough, I was checking closed sales and my god Hobbit fever is hitting eBay. Has anyone seen the spike in prices for the original SSW GTG figure? 225!! Wasn't that selling in the 80 dollar range last year?

Damn. I thought I would have more time to get this piece, kind of wanted to get Gimli first.

Speaking of Hobbit fever, does anyone know where I can find a list with all the action figures, Sideshow Busts, and Gentle Giant busts? I would like to get a collection going before they start going up in price.

Well, for sideshow, sideshow/weta, and weta stuff we have the tracking threads above. GG and action figures I'm not sure to be honest.

I had really hoped that they change the hair issue but now with the early release I don't think that happened. Will buy anyways. :p

I flexed her. And when you click on the "FlexPay Available" link it still lists the Flex schedule as March/April/May for payments. You'd think if she was really going to be available this month, they'd have at least backed that up to January/February/March.

But I haven't gotten any e-mails about her Flex schedule changing.

This is all very curious ...

I called SS last night, apparently she is coming in a split shipment. Full pay customers get her first and flexers (like me) get second crack at her.

Here's to hoping she arrives looking at least remotely like Liv Tyler and not like the mystery person in the promo pics.

One can only hope.
