Wow the likeness really comes out with the correct lighting. Thanks for sharing Petrolos.
Can't wait for mine now. Both Arwen and Gimli will arrive on Monday! :yess:

I was amazed myself what a difference the lighting makes. Never had any other statue that reacts so delicatly to the light direction. Arwen does not like frontal light :nono, from above or side it's fine!

You're in for a treat! :hi5:

Arwen #100 has savely arrived at my desk. :yess: She's a beauty!

Well, I have observed one thing: her looks (and likeness to Liv) is REALLY dependant on the right lighting you put her in. In the two fotos I've taken I just turned the main light a bit above her head. Makes all the difference, don't you think?

It's like that episode of Seinfeld (the Festivus episode) where Jerry's girlfriend looks ugly in bad lighting and great in good lighting.

:lol

We need a couple of more mugshots to declare whether there's more of the mispainted versions. I would like to think that the mispaints are a fluke rather than the norm.

It's very difficult to get a close up that represents what it actually looks like in person. That's true of any of my pictures, but it seems that close ups are particularly difficult to pull off faithfully.

Is it so hard to put the black dot in the eye to the god damn MIDDLE?! What kind of a work is this.. I'm not even commenting about the first photos freemen sent (probably worst painting I ever saw)

People who get this sort of products should make Sideshow know, they should know that the paintings are being poorly done. :gah:

The problem is that they have to know about it. It's not something new. It's been going on for years and people have been very vocal about it, and yet it keeps happening.

That's what gets me. Are not enough people asking for replacements for lazy eyes. I am all of the time now. It's one defect I just can't handle. If it hurts their bottom line, they will seriously address it.
I still love SS, it's just these lazy eyes I can't handle.

That's not true, very few people send those things back despite what you may heard. Unfortunately with the stuff they sell there is a very fanatic following of fans, and they are very forgiving unlike true collectors in other fields such as glass figurines, if lladro released a glass figurine with those kind of inconsistent quality you can bet every single one of them will be sent back. Here most people will just complain on the forum then call it a day.

I think the rogue pf was the only one ss felt the pain, financially.

But SS has said they read this board a lot for feedback and ideas. Even if they don't post here, they have to be aware about this issue by now. It is complained about a lot in various sections and threads.

They're aware of the issue and I believe outside of having the pieces painted in house doing everything that they can.

Well that's good to know.

I put an evening star on my reg head because I like the reg head better but wanted the evening star. Now can anyone tell me how to get the Aragorn head back onto the 12 body?

i think it's just a few customer service reps that read the ask sideshow section and mostly answers online order questions, i honestly doubt the people who make the decisions and do the actual work read those forums or aware of the complaints, they just look at the amount of money rolling in with every release.

The rogue PF was probably the only release where they got hammered, because the head had to be sent back and repainted, that means the guys who controls this stuff made the decision and are aware of the problem.

Otherwise most of the stuff just gets filtered out by the customer service reps. Just look at the 1/5 predator thread, you got 3 pages spanning 3 months asking if the bone accessories(mandatory item) will be included otherwise not buying the statue. Many people also sent emails to sideshow. You think the guys who actually does this stuff wont respond to such thread if they saw it or if indeed it was missed wont go back and fix it then respond.... Or just take this thread for example, we complained since day 1, and the final version is not much different.

They will only notice if certain statue has mass returns/exchanges because it affects the bottomline, unfortunately as i said most of us dont do that and just live with the flaws. So ss continues to do what they do.

fremen, dude you should just open shop and customize the arwen for $. This looks excellent! btw where did you get the necklace? i thought the ex necklace was painted on the head itself (which looks kind bad at close up).

Gags the folks from SS that read the board range from all over within the company. It's something they're aware of and other issues some of which get buried by needless griping. That's why it's important for people to point out posts that actually have info in it to which SS can find usefull.

Thanks gagaliya. That's the necklace from the SS 12 inch aragorn. The chain is a little too thick I think for her femininity. Maybe replacing it with silver tread or something would work better. From a distance though, it looks good.

Re: Arwen Maquette Re-Painted like Liv Tyler

I knew it !! This Statue is Awsome , BEST ARWEN EVER MADE!! I NEW the Sculpt was perfect and all I Had To do was re- paint the face, so I repainted her face, her hair and ears and added glitter effects to her costume and parts of her makeup to make her shimmer like a beautiful elf should. So yep it was just a ok paint job sent to me but the sculpt is uncanny:) So ... Now she LOOKs like LIV Tyler from The Lord of the Rings!! Please let me know what you think of my first custom repaint of a sideshow statue. They should hire me to repaint them all - I can't believe the difference when I finished ;)
