Try my method: Have no expectations.

That way, when the product is announced, you can say either, "Oooo" or "meh..."

Just a thought. And it beats the hell out of bringing down the vibe of others.

I like this method! I expect nothing, so I am pleasantly surprised when I get something.

i need some dvd's to watch and was wondering what is the best Evil Dead versions? Is there a boxset with all 3?

Definitely a nice PF.
But as said before the pose just ain't right.
The gun should be in the other direction as in the movieshot.
he shouldn't lean that much.
His head could be looking more forward and the neck is a bit too long ...

As opposed to others,I think this Pf looks good..NOT AWESOME, BUT NOT AS BAD AS OTHERS HAVE SAID...the pose doesnt bother me at all.

Me too, I think to the pose is cool, I just dont like the neck. Other than that I think it looks great.

I just saw it and I don't think it's as bad as everyone's acting. The face from a distance looks a little off but in the close up shots it looks good. I imagine it looks much better in person.

Ah, the pessimistic approach. ...

Nonsense. I have no expectations. Not low expectations. Meaning I just chill and wait to see what the artists are going to come up with. It's much better for my emotional health than my days as an armchair artist when I was conceiving of ways that I'd do it.

So when I hear that someone's gonna do a sculpt of a character I like, I just say, "Cool. I wonder what it'll look like?" And I leave it at that.

In this particular case, it's not at all what I would've gone with, most likely. But I like it. :D

Yeah, you're right, I remember how everyone "ripped apart" the PF Darkness when it was first shown last month.

When SS does things right, we let them know about it (how many PF Hulk threads have there been?). But we also let them know when things go wrong.

Until SS gives us their products for free, we have every right to complain if we feel their product isn't up to the prices they charge.

Comments like these are very humorous...you act like your an Ash scholar and since you have studied every square inch of his body it makes YOU an expert on exactly how he should look. Maybe your accustom to computer scanned statues from companies like NECA and GG and demand some level of perfection that's beyond any reasonable expectation. You certainly can have your opinion but you don't speak for me or everyone else. Because of your displeasure in the final product you have a choice....buy it or don't....you don't have the right to tell Sideshow how it should be changed to please you. Let's take in consideration that Sideshow actually takes YOUR advice and makes the changes you recommend. Those changes may make others unhappy since they like the original sculpt. I think the figure is awesome and for $250 it's a great price as well. There have been some labeled here as "cheerleaders" because they defend Sideshow when people start complaining about a new product. Cheerleaders can dislike products but we choose to simply pass on an item rather than fill these forums with venom on how a product should be changes to satisfy us.

But if you simply buy/not buy, how does any company know why you made the decision so that they can adapt for the future?

Any company that says "here is the item - take it or leave it" is a company that probably won't be in business for very long. The comments we make about pieces should spur SSC to take a look at those comments/suggestions/complaints for upcoming items. In addition, these items are being made to sell, right? So if people aren't happy, then SSC doesn't make money, right? Money spent in R&D, and the creation of the prototypes is wasted if no one buys the final product.

I did not see one valid point to the comments I made, just a typical fanboy rant.

Again, where is everyone "ripping apart" PF Darkness? PF Hulk? PF Captain America?

You certainly can have your opinion but you don't speak for me or everyone else.

I don't have to speak for anyone else. It appears the majority here aren't impressed by Ash. Get over it.

That's really for them to figure out and not our problem. Like it or not, we are a minority of Sideshow's customer base. We're a very vocal minority, but a minority nonetheless.

Sure, they're nice enough to read this board and respond to some posts here, but the best way to get your message to Sideshow would be a direct e-mail or a posting in the appropriate comments section of their site.

Yeah, the lean might be a little goofy looking from certain angles and the gun doesn't match a picture posted from a google search or wikipedia entry that may or may not have been what the artist used as reference, but I still don't understand how any self-respecting Evil Dead fan could pass on this.

Speaking of the artist, who made this? I see Sideshow isn't offering that info on the product page.

Of course you don't see any valid points...you think your right!!!

Fanboy rant?

I'd rather be the fanboy rant than the whiny *****

On a side note, has there ever been any Darkness/Hulk/Captain America-level gushing for a PF based on a live actor without prosthetic makeup? I'm thinking no, with the Obi-Wan and Leia PF's probably at the top of the human likeness list. Its a lot harder to nail a PF when there's an unforgiving screenshot of a live actor you can always post side by side to pick out the flaws.
