I'd love to watch it, but don't have Starz and really don't like watching on computer/tablet/phone.

Guess I have no choice but to wait or the series to hit video.

Had a blast with tonight's episode, but it was indeed on the short side. I'd still prefer a shorter episode with solid material than a longer one that drags, so I think 30 minutes, as heartbreaking as it may be, is actually a smart length for this type of series. Episode 1 felt a little less organized and more about reacquainting fans with the franchise, whereas this one -- now totally about the story -- felt cleaner, more polished, and more focused. Effects were good too.

Loving the leads on this, too. Great chemistry, great energy. Just an all around good time to watch.

I thought it was a fun episode. I wish the episodes were a little longer, but I do like the pace they are keeping. Considering Army Of Darkness was only 80 minutes, I'll gladly take 30 or 40 bonus minutes of Deadite action weekly.:lol

Speaking of AOD. I do think it's part of this universe unofficially, considering Ash threw out a Boomstick line.

It's all a legal mess. Evil Dead I and II are owned by Raimi. The film rights to AoD are owned by Universal. That's one of the big reasons there was never another film. TV rights were not covered by Universal's contract, so Raimi and company finally drove an Oldsmobile Delta through that loophole. There might be a wink or two at AoD but they cannot use characters or situations from that film. Ash's backstory did not include any footage from that film. The use of phrases like "Groovy" and "Boomstick" probably as close as they'll get to AoD.

They probably won't do anything to directly contradict AoD or ruin it for fans, but it's off limits.

From what i remember its only recently that Raimi got the rights to ED1 and 2 as there were so many people who invested in the first 2 in the earlier days it was an impossible task tracking them down. Thats also why the start of ED2 is a 20min remake of the 1st film and we only just starting getting figures from ED2.

More info about why they didnt get the right to AOD in this vid

Great episode, length felt fine. Where were all those practical effects we got this week in the first episode? This has been a great ride so far either way.

I wonder if at any point they'll take the setting back to the middle ages again. I don't know if it would be a good idea to tread up something already done though.

doubt it,but it looks like he eventually goes back to the Cabin

If the book makes them time travel it would test Universal's patience off they went to the middle ages. Easier to pick another time and place. Ash vs Frankenstein's monster. That sort of thing.

Maybe in the Wild West? Although I'm having BTTF 3 flashbacks thinking about it...

I don't know, wouldn't everything have been sucked into the time warp? Except for the cabin itself. Even the Oldsmobile went. I guess if it wasn't specifically shown, it could be retconned.

You never know, but I'm sure it will be loaded with ED2 nods outside of just a Cabin. I fully expect the Deer on the wall.
