Wow the digital images are amazing !! I already said the likeness seems a bit off to me on the prototype, especially the jawline, but the 3D sculpt is near perfect... So it may be a problem of lightning or painting ?... The eyes seems a bit smaller on the prototype too...

Sorry, didn't mean to upset the apple cart there but if you compare the two side by side, the painted version looks very different.

Maybe it's the angles, the paint or the lighting but prototype looks to have a completely different chin and jawline which is way too puffy and round and that is what is throwing the likeness off. It's already been noted on here and your FB page that the likeness needs a tweak and I think these digital files show why. The jaw and chin look correct on the digital version but not on the painted and that is what is strange about it.

This will be my 19th Asmus figure and I want the line to be as good as possible as I know these are the only versions of these characters we are likely to see any time soon. So forgive my hot headedness and keep up the good work!

Looks like the exact same sculpt to me. As someone has said it's losing some detail because of being painted versus black and white or whatever you call it

I think the pic of the painted prototype may have been softened up a bit. The brow lines, for example, are not showing up as much as on the render.

Aside from that, they look the same to me.

Regardless of whether it is the same sculpt or not, there's something off with the puffy jaw and chin on that painted version and that is clear as day. Looking closer at the digital version on my PC now and I can see the same problem is on the digital version, albeit less noticeable due to the shading etc.

I'm sure it will be getting released as is at this point but as Asmus are usually happy to tweak sculpts (they are on their 4th attempt at Helm's Deep Aragorn), why not try and get this one as good as it can be instead of just rushing it out half baked?

?Regardless of whether it?s the same sculpt...? I thought the guys and gals who made it just confirmed that it WAS the same sculpt a few comments back...

I agree that the painted version looks a little puffier in the cheeks. While I don't doubt that this is the same sculpt as the render, errors can occur during the mold/cast process. It could also look different due to the painting or the lighting.

Looks like something went off with the final mold; IMO it's not the paint.

For sure; especially if it is a "face plate". Thranduil got a new face at some point!

I can't judge Faramir too harshly. My own cheeks and jawline are a lot puffier these days, too! :1-1:

:lol

Yeah, the sugar-dusted chocolate-covered buttercrunch almonds I've been crunching on aren't helping. Maybe Faramir & co. had a really boring time holed up in the cave snacking, waiting for the Haradrim.:monkey3

Asmus I would be buying this if it had rooted hair....sadly I will be passing since it's a sculpt! A shame, would look great with rooted Boromir. Plans for a rooted option??

I sometimes prefer sculpted hair but please don't do that strange split-widows-peak thing like what was done with Theoden. He will always wear his helmet on display.
