Iron Man figures from Hot Toys have light up features, but the way they're done, they're usually a pain in the ass to access and a ***** to get the batteries into the tiny compartments, which sometimes you can hardly get to. So I think they're just saying that Asmus makes their figures more consumer-friendly in a handling regard.

Yeah, thank u - exactly - couldn't get back to this thread. I "play" with my figs - I'd light my IM 46 up more than I do, but getting batteries in and out and dealing with pulling the plates off to do that was a chore - LOL even with tweezers I still am missing batteries that flew across the room and got lost.

Other figs I have - things are there that need some care, either because of size, tiny tabs, TWS Bucky loose pistol clip, stuff like that. Love my HTs but some of them need to be handled with caution. Gandalf, Thranduil, Gimli, Bilbo...feel like I can comfortably work with them.

I wouldn't compare HT quality control with Asmus. A lot of folks got burned on the Frodo slims and GtW.

I'll take that:(. HT can be uneven (tho I always wander back to HT esp. the "feels-heavy" bodies) but - yeah, I read all those threads:(. Wasn't collecting LOTR. But the Frodo eye thing - those heads should have been replaced - plus it freaked me out:panic: re Thorin (who is on PO), as Thorin (in the films) has distinctly ice blue eyes. They can look greenish (BOFA) or dark in some shots, but they are crystal BLUE.
Is the factory gonna get that right after the Frodo thing? How do u confuse light blue w. *murky* hazel?

IMO if ur production factory is screwing up, a company needs to make it right. Frodo - Elijah Wood - with those luminescent blue eyes. Iconic movie stills with those BLUE eyes. Can't imagine what production factory was thinking...and WTF with that squished GTW head sculpt. OMG.

But - ASMUS is working at it:clap. Have a lot of hope for Thorin after getting Gimli:pray:. Also the upcoming (hope) Gandalfs. I own GTG but would definitely get more Gandalfs. And a rooted hair Legolas.

(Bilbo's eyes are perfect tho IMO - dark blue, just like Martin Freeman's eyes. Perfect shade:clap)

Finally got my Bilbo delivered and surprisingly enough he hit my doorstep with another shockingly awesome package that was a gift from my Dad and Brother!! They surprised me with this beautiful Middle Earth Blu Ray Collection for Xmas. I literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Bilbo is absolutely great! I love him. Only not pick I would say is I wished Asmus gave him a smiling sculpt. I think it would suit Bilbo.

Maybe an expansion Asmus? Lol

Either way I think he's great!

Beautiful pics was waiting for someone w. good camera etc. to do pics! Congrats too on that collector set - now that's a gift! LOL your pics make me want to re-watch all the Hobbit movies.

Great idea for the staff - tho for me I probably will spend time looking around outside for the "perfect" stick. Wonder if the 'bay has some woodworker that has left-over sticks from a project. I kinda like the idea of getting Bilbo a staff in a really nice wood, like walnut.

Guess I can go check the woods, too. And love that base - terrific set up!)

For sure a handsome gift:) - just can't swing it...but it's the holidays right? Maybe I will find a way to get the UC Thranduil sword I've wanted for 2 years.

Or stop buying figs:monkey3 but no regrets on Bilbo except wish I had the Laketown outfit too. I can probably find some 1/6 robe on the 'bay to cut down tho, since the fit of that robe was loose.

That would be pretty cool. If you end up finding one and puttying it together be sure to share pics!

Bilbo has arrived!

The figure does look great, all around. The paint apps on the sculpt are probably the best so far. Thank goodness for V1... ;)

In regards to the sculpt size, it does look a little big but not distracting or bobble-headish. It appears that it could be that the sculpt is 1/6 scale for regular sized human but placed on a hobbit sized body. A thin body at that. Overall, the figure looks fantastic.

Sting is metal and beautiful. The other accessories are extremely well done as well. Asmus is definitely heading in the right direction!

Absolutely lethal coming in here! Knew I shouldn't have looked :slap (I couldn't help it!) - after looking at all the great photos in the thread, decided that I wanted this figure in my collection, so...I've just gone and ordered one!! :lol

One of these days it would be cool if Asmus would try a "glowing" Sting. Not a light-up feature. Maybe just some kind of iridescent paint treatment to give it a bluish tint. Maybe even some kind of glow-in-the-dark paint!

Thanks for the tip.
2 units? Lucky you boy!

Thanks! The vegetation is from fake plants from Hobby Lobby. I just plucked them off and put them on the base. Easy peasy.

I actually have two of these bases I loved it so much I had to pick up a second when they were still available. Coincidentally the other is displayed with my Gandalf and Frodo. [emoji23]

Sure, Hobbits might have had big heads, it looks even cute and endearing on them, but it is not movie accurate, and there underlie some of Asmus' technical restrictions.

LOL that's what happened to me reading the Gimli posts, and then reviews...and then...:lol

Don't use the word delightful very often but Bilbo IS. Great to work with, expressive sculpt, paint...hope you are really happy with him:)

Bring on Thorin:pray:

I think even in movies they are not always the same "scale" as they used different scale tricks in different moments/scenes. So, I think it is reasonable for 1/6 interpretation.

Don't you think guyz that one the coat removed, these Asmus hobbits look too skinny? Does Bilbo come from the manufacturer with any fatsuit?
Even if it does, it does look skinny. For those who agree, what do you guys think that could be done about it?
Thanks,
m.

I think you are missing the point.
What you refer to would be outer proportion: proportion of the hobbit wrt other elements.
The head problem is an inner proportion issue: proportion of certain parts of Bilbo to other parts of him.
