IMO ASMUS did stellar job:love - some minor nits, but they've actually managed to capture Martin Freeman Bilbo expression, and this fig is too much fun to work with.:clap

Did you email them? Once I had to email them to get my invoice sent. They said they had sent it before and asked me to check my spam folder but I never found the original. I think that was for Frodo when that happened. Every other time I received my invoice within 24-48 hours of first hearing they were sending them. I’d send them an email.

Thanks, I emailed them at their "service@" address...hope they check that one.

I think I used the email from their store website. If you don’t hear back from them in 48 hours I would email them again. From my personal experiences with Asmus once their customer service responds they have always done a great job on making things right but not always but sometimes the first email does not seem to get to them.

Well Bilbo arrive yesterday. Fantastic and fun figure. I have always loved the Lord of the Rings story and movies more than the Hobbit but Bilbo is a very endearing character and Freeman did a fantastic job playing him so the figure was always going to fill a gap in my collection but after having him in hand it may actually be my favorite figure so far. The accessories are great and the book is fantastic. My biggest issue are the hair it through the likeness off in my opinion, the size of the head feels a little large and the belt on mine is ridiculously long. The figure itself is sturdy as can be like all their hobbit figures and the quality matches the recent figures in my opinion. Definently worth my money and I don’t see any reason to except a 2.0 with this one since I do not see any glaring issues.

I wish they did a deluxe version with a Bag End front door diorama.

Congrats on getting him in hand:) - tho I didn't check the belt really. Kind of pondering how to do Bilbo's Laketown outfit for my next Bilbo...but really wish ASMUS had done a diorama background too:drool. Would be a fun project if a person had the time and tools.

(Guess I could try sizing some images up and getting them printed as kind of "Bag End wallpaper" for the shelf.)

I think the likeness is great - very happy with Bilbo...tho I tried stuffing a bit of paper at the shoulders and "squaring" the shoulders does help balance the head. For me, depending on view angle, just really happy with him. So many nice details like the lined coat and fully finished vest; even the suspenders. I do think I am going to get some slight padding on the body, eventually - slight; I am guessing ASMUS knew not to bind up the joints w. layers of cloth.

Now I just need Thorin & co.:monkey3

I do love that they did all the layers of the costumes for all the hobbits. I never liked that Sideshow didn’t give their hobbits suspenders.

I wonder why Asmus haven't done rooted hair with their hobbits. All of them.
Looking at your pics, I like the likeness but that huge hair helmet... :-(

It’s the technology. I don’t think there is a mass market way to make hobbit’s short curly hair rooted yet, at least one that looks good and fits in the price point. To be honest I am still not sold on the mass market rooted hair anyway. Sometimes it works but more often in my opinion it detracts from the figure.

*Eek*. I'd love a curly rooted hair hobbit - but w. the kind of fiber that production seems to use - and keeping within a reasonable price point - I can see something like a steel wool 'fro ending up on the hobbits.

A good challenge for a skilled custom (not me) - Tibetan lamb? Human hair? But ASMUS doesn't make that many of these...don't think I have the guts to ever try re-hairing this Bilbo. But I figure eventually some pics of a few great customs will show up, from people who know what they are doing.

Think my tweaks will be limited to some minor shoulder/body padding to square the shoulders a bit.

There are a significant amount of lens distortion that made the hair sculpt bigger in the photos. I prefer sculpted hair over rooted hair for figures with short hair.

I saw once a Frodo head with rooted hair (using an Elijah Wood head, not in scale with Hobbit sizes) and it looked so good that I don't care any longer about sculpted hair. After Gimli, Asmus is the master of rooted hair. They can pull rooted hobbits and people would buy it. There is a huge market, I'd say.
I don't remember any hobbits having curly hair (sculpted hair on Asmus' hobbits is not curly btw), but even if they had, I have seen curly hair done by customizers. It can be done. More expensive? I'll pay more for something that looks more accurate and life-like, and if it is not cost-effective to Asmus, I want at least to have the option to do it myself. That's impossible with sculpted hair.

It can be done, but hey: none of the 5 hobbits had curly hair. It was wavy at most. Just look at the sculpted hairs.

The helmet looks so thick and artificial (I mean in the marketing stuff), that I don't mind any lens distortion.

For sure my cell phone camera isn't helping or the fact I know pretty much nothing about photography. In hand, the paint IMO is really great - camera seems to pick up more hollow-ness than is there. Head seems a tad large, but just a bit. It's the body too tho I can see ASMUS wanted keep the articulation with the layers of clothes (I have a fair number of Capt. America w. usual articulation/costume issues in the arms).

I like the joints are tight; hand switchout firm but not ridiculous. Maybe ASMUS plays with their figs a bit before shipping to see if things actually work, unlike HT who doesn't seem to check what a customer will deal with (like all those Iron Man batteries and multiple tiny switches).

Anyone have a bead on how long before SSC gets theirs in? Can’t remember the wait between Asmus’s site and Sideshow. Last Asmus figure I PO’d through SSC was Mouth of Sauron so it’s been a bit.

Finally got my Bilbo delivered and surprisingly enough he hit my doorstep with another shockingly awesome package that was a gift from my Dad and Brother!! They surprised me with this beautiful Middle Earth Blu Ray Collection for Xmas. I literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Bilbo is absolutely great! I love him. Only not pick I would say is I wished Asmus gave him a smiling sculpt. I think it would suit Bilbo.

Maybe an expansion Asmus? Lol

Either way I think he's great! FB_IMG_1543895941540.jpegFB_IMG_1543895943758.jpegFB_IMG_1543895946547.jpegFB_IMG_1543895949185.jpegFB_IMG_1543895951421.jpegFB_IMG_1543895954212.jpegFB_IMG_1543895931554.jpegFB_IMG_1543895915189.jpegFB_IMG_1543895917854.jpeg

My last Flex pay got pushed to Jan 5 instead of December. Which sucks.

3/4 angle display is this figure's strong suit. I see an excellent likeness there. Front on, at least in pictures, I don't see it as well.
