Grima would be great but I want Theoden and Eomer more at this point and a complete Asmus fellowship and Lurtz and Uruk Hai... and...

Guys, my Saruman arrived.
I just unboxed him, no fuzzing yet, and he is amazing. With a little fuzzing, he goes skyhigh . With some customization, he can be a perfect miniaturized version of Cristopher Lee in 1/6th.

Lots of nice details. The fabric is hard to show on pics, but up close you have all the little details from the movie. The Palantir base is HEAVY , and feels great. The hands switch very easily. Generally, I'd warm a figure up before switching hands, but this time I didn't feel the need to, and they stay in place. The plastic they used for the hands works very well. The body is very sturdy and holds its poses. I didn't even use his crotch stand yet.

Mine came with the "build an orc" greaves. Nicely painted and feels like a gift in a figure such as this.

Headsculpt is fantastic, hands are too, the hair really works out well for him. I'm still unsure if I'm going to customize him, if at all.

Overall, I loved it, thanks Asmus for a fantastic Figure that did justice to Saruman, as portrayed by Cris Lee.

Two little comments I feel I need to add , not entirely related to the figure itself, is that Asmus has a fantastic figure with Saruman, I had no idea his clothing was so detailed before getting him. He deserved better advertising ;)

And on another note, the box, for countries with dodgy postal services, like Brazil, Italy, etc. I suggest you guys give your figures a brownbox without all the info on the figure. Everyone can see its "Saruman" a collectible figure, from Asmus Toys, and they can deduce its valuable. I dunno, A regular brown box would hide it better during shipping, and avoid some of the hastle of post office theft.

Just dumped him into a bucket of coffee grounds and water 12666405_10156761984935157_738897193_n.jpg
Early results are already promising 12695826_10156762015065157_400650723_n.jpg

I was going to ask if the outfit is as paper white as it looks, but clearly the "bath" brings out all the built-in detail in the outfit. A definite must-do!

Great pics, Sankari.

so you just mix together some water and coffee and thats it????

a lot of coffee? how long is it left in the water? then you pat it dry???? rinse it???

I just took a cup of coffee, plus the coffee pod, dropped it all in a bucket, and filled it with water, mixed it , and then let the figure ( without boots, hands, head etc.) sit in there for maybe 15 mins. Bear in mind that when its wet it might look darker than it actually is once dry. So just take it from there. Let it dry on the body of the figure.

The other issue is that he needs some height enhancement , and his boots needs a repaint / weathering. But thats about it. Great figure

That looks great, Sankari! Nice job! :clap

I wonder if dye would work as well? (I'm not a coffee drinker and I'm a little concerned about my detolf smelling like coffee afterward! :lol)

Really looking forward to Sideshow shipping this one. (Supposedly later this month.) My only complaint is that I wish the belt had been fabric instead of plastic. But that's a small gripe and may not bug me at all once I've got him in hand.

The coffee smell goes away. Just leave it in an open space. I've used coffee and tea to dye many other projects, like, for ageing paper, for weathering clothes , its fine, just don't leave it in there for too long, and after it dries out, it shouldn't be too strong. Plus I used it really diluted.

The belt is something I wish was out of fabric as well , the rubber looks fine, but its open at the front, exactly where the knot is supposed to be tied up.

Tomorrow I`ll take better pics.
And I'm still waiting for the material to do his beard in real hair.

I'm thinking the belt could be cut in the back to make it smaller. Either glue it back together or poke some holes in it and use string. Backs completely covered right?

It is, but you also don't want it too tight, otherwise the rubber would give him a weird waistline. It sits comfortably on his body, on the original movie costume, doesn't slim him down. It should be cloth. I was thinking along the same lines but gluing it on the fabric itself, and then tying it at the front like how its meant to be

That coffee bath really made a difference. Now his hair looks white rather than yellow too. :clap

Will longer pegs solve the height problem?

Already did it. Don't know if you can tell that his height now is more adequate to the palantir pillar.

Sorry for the crappy cellphone pics. My room isn't very illuminated. Will take better ones tomorrow.
