Asmus Toys The Lord of the Ring - Aragorn

I reallly like the boots. Definitely much better than aci. Hopefully I can score a loose one for my aci.
The hands are cool. Like the dirty look.
The gauntlets are also better than aci. I personally feel the aci was too bulky so I prefer not using it.
The base is awesome! Nice!
I also think the clothes is on par with aci.

For me personally, I'm sticking with my aci.
But grats asmus, it looks like a nice figure.

Yep, the boots were the first thing I noticed. Love the 'real' material wrap. The clothing really does look good, and so does that emerald green leaf clasp. Detail on the outfit looks terrific and I hope the weathering holds up in production. Weapons also look very good -- curious if the little knife can be removed from the sheath. That fuzzy soft night-roll will need some weathering though to match the rest.

Headsculpt is looking pretty good too -- if a bit melancholy -- in the pictures below:

I'm sure in hand and at scale it will look even better. Not saying it beats your ACI figure, just saying it turned out pretty damn good. I'm happy anyway.

Screaming or yelling heads always look a bit funny when frozen in time. This one will go well with StarAce's Voldemorte screaming head.

Hey, George, if you're out there reading -- please let us know if the previously mentioned "arms" for the Build-a-Orc will still be included with Aragorn.

wow this looks good! bedroll and black cloak need some weathering to match the rest but really great looking figure overall

When I think of screaming sculpts done well I think of Leonidas, Hulk, TBB Bruce Lee, and a couple of military figures.

But this one is especially... interesting. It's just a bit surprising given the high quality of the rest of the set.

I doubt it'll be missed by those not able to commit to a PO.

Aci clothes look better but these look very nice too. The second head is ridiculous lol.

Wor-gar, I'm ok with melancholy. Aragorn is a melancholy character. My only gripe with it is that is looks like he's biting the insides of his cheeks a bit.

I think between this and the aci you can make a near perfect Aragorn.

Now to decide whether to keep my aci or not. I don't have any other asmus figs but plan to buy them all in 6 months to a year.

Great set. Tha extra headsculpt is a must have...very unique...

New to this company. Do they have their own store? Will the extra headsculpt be available at retailers?

You can order direct from their website and that will secure the extra headsculpt. I doubt it'll be available through distributors.

Bah. These getting up to $200 is very disappointing. $130-160 is a sweet spot. Should have known after Eowyn and Bard. They can't just keep going up.

I mean, they can, but it will suck.

I like what Asmus is doing and I feel the value is there for 150-ish, but after that it becomes a little questionable to me. Particularly if the bodies continue to be practically worthless.

Looks great but not $200 Dollars Great, for a little more you could get the ACI one.

...that assumes that anyone buying reckons ACI the better figure - personally I'd go with this one. HT farmboy Luke Skywalker is about to be revealed, and I don't doubt it'll be a bare-bones release and cost $230. Hopefully it'll look like the character. Two hundred bucks is entry level for high end sadly.
