The Toy Biz ones looked better than this. They had the nicely covered, one piece head without any seams and it STILL had three articulation points for natural movement.

That rubber has still held up too.

McFarlane did the same thing with their Headless Horseman deluxe figure. 3 points of articulation in the neck, not visible joints. Rubber is good as the day it was pressed. What's even better, you can't really tell where the rubber stops and the plastic begins. There's a natural joint at the reins where the two meet and the color is almost perfectly matched.

I'm at a loss as to what people are seeing in this figure. It looks like a cheap ebay bash. The gauntlet looks like it's split up the inside; the cloak and clothes look very poor quality as do the cheap hands; he looks extremely pale and ill and his hair is just peculiar.

I'm puzzled by the love for this one.

I'm at a loss as to why you think it looks cheap? I will give you if the vembraces do just wrap around the forearms that is pretty cheap but the rest of it looks great. Skin tone matches Viggos very much from the movies.

Yeah, I agree with you. This one looks like a dud.

I'm looking forward to Saruman though. So far he looks great.

I hole hartedly agree I don't see the Love. :huh

I "hole hartedly" disagree. I think it looks great. Eye of the beholder and all that. I just get tired of the redundant figure slamming from certain members of the boards (not calling you out, SirGor). If I don't like a figure, I don't stalk that thread and incessantly slam the figure and the people that do like it.

You see that all over the Asmus threads, the Star Wars threads, and really, and any thread about Harrison Ford.

Agreed, I would rep you if I could.

blows away the Sideshow one.....not sure what people are expecting? Likeness is there for sure

I agree as well. If I come upon a thread that looks appealing only to find that the item doesn't do anything for me, I simply don't go back to that thread. Really, what's the point? I do however understand the angst about wanting to really like something and not being able to. If you're into this line for the long haul, you really want to have love for all the pieces, especially one that is so critical to the line. It's painful when you see something that you really want and need and it doesn't meet your expectations. I was over the moon when Hot Toys announced the T1 Battle Damaged Terminator. Even though many believe it's a stellar figure, I was heartbroken when I saw the production piece. My most coveted figure just not doing it for me. Granted, I didn't continually run the figure through the mud, but I did voice my displeasure with it.

Where is this phantom poster that is constantly slamming this figure in here? I don't happen to see them?

There have been outright hateful things said about this, about other figures, and about Asmus as a company. I am not going to search through hundreds of pages to find the insults but they are there. A certain poster has probably said something rude about every release so far. You would think that a person with such a negative interaction with a company would not frequent threads about them, but he still does.

As far as I can tell just about every release from every company has at least one person ranting.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion but excessive ranting gets on my nerves and I just start blocking it out. Constructive criticism is totally different though and it has been really neat that we have seen stuff so early on that our input has value to the manufacturer and gets taken into account.

I think these days there is as much venom for Hot Toys as there is Asmus.... so Asmus is in good company. :lol

This figure is the grail piece for most collecting 1/6th LOTR so its going to get debated. Plus it has the ACI one to compare. We won't know anything until its in hand... but anyone who has Gandalf or Eowyn knows roughly what to expect.

I think the real game-changer is going to be Saruman.

Well, I'm reasonably happy with it so far. Anxious to see some in-hand shots and to see how it comes out in production. But it looks pretty good to me.

Maybe I'm easy to please. So be it. But I'm still super impressed that they've listened to our feedback and made changes.

However, I am mostly hoping Asmus' learning curve starts to accelerate. Each figure has had an issue or two. I've been patient, but I'm looking forward to a few solid successes in a row.

The forehead at the hairline bothers me, but other than that I'm happy with it. It's not perfect, but it's better than ACI's, IMO.
