What Witch King rerelease? Only thing I heard about is the body you get for pre-ordering Eowyn.

It's in the Questions for Asmus thread. Asmus said there is limited amount of morgul lord left to be released, presumably with the fell beast bust.

They are releasing more after it "sold out"? Did Sideshow buy a controlling interest in the company?

:lol

I think they had some left over. Their first figure had too high of an edition size. So they're releasing the leftover in a special pack with Fell Beast sculpt. But Asmus said Fell Beast will also be sold separately.

I repainted the hair to make it more white like in the movies, but I think I need to go over it again. It was more yellow/white than bright white I think. The vest I went over the stitching with a gold paint pen and then a white paint pen. I'm happier with it, but ideally I'd disassemble the vest, pull the black stitching and restitch with white gold thread.

Hello guys, Gandalf arrived at home a couple of days ago and I finally had a little time to customize him.
Out of the box, I'm a bit disappointed by the general look. The head is a bit squished but not that much, and the tip given by Wor Gar works well. But the look of the fabric, the total lack of futzing and weathering, the lack of attention to the details make this figure average.
Concerning the head, I find the sculpt is good, and the painted skin looks excellent, but the paint on the mustache, the line of the hair and line of the beard are weak.

In contrast, the fabric used for the robe is gorgeous.

By the way be carefull with the wrists joints, one of mine broke the first time I pulled off the hand... I'm not lucky with Asmus's bodies, after breaking my Gothmog elbow... I had to replace the joint by a Hot Toys one, that had to be sculpted a bit, and the problem were solved. Asmus, you should think about replacement joints in the boxes please...

About the custom work, I just re-painted the mustache heavier, the line of the beard and hair, and highlighted the hair and the eyebrushes. I cut all the fabric near the sews. I gave a white/brown wash to the vest like most of you. (only one coat of paint on the picture below and it already looks a lot better). And I also gave a bit of weathering, by slightly airbrushing "smoke" paint (Tamiya) to break the "total white" aspect. It doesn't show much, but this is better I think.

In a conclusion, with a lot of work I'm satified but I think for this range of price the figure could be better out of the box. Asmus you need to pay attention to the details: I loved to customize Guritz because it was a lot of fun but I thought cutting the fabric near the sews, and re-painting the beard, mustache, hair and vest on Gandalf was not my job.
Hope that Aragorn will be top quality !
:)

You did a great job on him, Neko. :clap

Asmus has come a long way, but clearly has some steps to go yet. But they have been very receptive to comments, and seem to be taking our "fixes" to mind on their forthcoming figures. Time will tell. But I like where they are headed.

Your Gandy looks dandy, Neko!

Almost makes me sorry that I cancelled him... almost.

Thanks !
I'm like you and I want this line to succeed, and I like the way Asmus listen to us.
HYMN, I can't insert one of my images in a private message so here is my reply. It is not really a wash, but a mixture with these two paints, and three or four quite liquid coats applied on the vest.

Ayoldguy, I used the same method to hang the scabbard that the one Sithundercracker show us. It is the same in the movie except there is no node on the upper clasp.
:)

Debating on getting gandalf, $170 is a lot of scratch... hmm, what to do?!

well, im jumping all in with this line... it all looks real neat-o keen... damn toys
