Pleasantly surprised at how nice this actually is in hand. Arms are still floppy but hold poses to a certain degree. Most of the outfit is beautiful, and with a white wash over the dark printed collar the vest is ok. Sword hangs alright from the belt but not as well as the WitchKing's - it would have been better to use individual loops as opposed to a double one (those who have the figure will understand what i mean) but it's not too bad. The headsculpt is slightly distorted - on mine it looks like the lower right side of his face is sunken in a bit, which contributes to the too-narrow look of the head, but with the socket pushed right in it sits well on the neck and actually looks ok. As mentioned before there are a few tweaks needed to the paintwork on the face but overall it's a nice sculpt 2014-11-22 14.40.36.jpg

I agree...it really has a presence on the shelf. This was right out of the box. The paint apps seemed to have been improved w/ the second batch.

I got Gandalf from Alter Ego. Love him. BUT... I tried to swap out the hand (having had it for SECONDS) and the wrist pin broke instantly. Is this a common problem? I guess if I can get a replacement I'll warm it up first.

Yeah, its a "common problem" with any 1/6 figures. You have to warm it up to soften the material before trying that. Otherwise , you're putting too much strain on a tiny joint

Well, I own about 50 1/6 figures and I've never had this issue before. I've certainly never had to warm one up, though I know it's an option. I just think it's silly that it should be an expectation. I was being INCREDIBLY gentle and just feeling how tight it was when the hinge came apart. Then I did warm up the pin in the wrist to try to pull it out and see if I could repair the hinge and it still snapped.

Still, if most people are not having problems with it, maybe it was just a bum one.

Does Asmus use a proprietary body? Or is there a wrist peg that might work for him? I have a Spare KO TT Slim. Maybe just port the whole thing over? I've heard that the bodies on Asmus toys can be kind of loose?

They used kaustic for the WK and I believe they were in the process of switching over to their own but it might be one they bought rights to from caustic.

I didn't have any problems with the hands on mine but I have had a few Sideshow and Hot Toys snap over the years probably 5 or 6 in the 8 plus years I have been buying so it is not that common but it does happen.

Thanks for the info. That helps. Waiting to hear back form Alter Ego or Asmus. I suspect all AE could do is exchange the whole thing which seems a waste, and I assume getting a replacement from Asmus will take a while, so I'm exploring options. I guess I could experiment with just changing the whole thing over to the KO TT slim I have. I happen to have an extra one.

I would think that if it is on their own body they could provide a replacement set of wrist pegs. Also we did mention it to them in one of these threads that providing a few spare ones in future releases would be nice so there is hope that they read that and will start put in an extra pair like Hot Toys does in the future.

What the current best price one can find Gandalf for? Trying to get one for a present. So far $165 plus shipping is the best I have found.

I just ordered Gandalf at BBTS. Seeing that Asmus will be doing figures for the next three years at least, I think he will be a sought after figure down the road, and I would like to display him with an Aragorn and Arwen.

The packaging is decent, nothing extraordinary. I think ThreeZero just set a new standard for packaging with their Tyrion
