Got off the fence and PO'd Gimli at BBTS
Had to decide 'coz I thought I had plenty of time, but guess the good word on Gimli has gotten out.:dunno I really wish ASMUS would do more dwarves!

Good choice, Gimli is awesome you won't regret.
Finally I worked a little bit on him. Darkened the vambraces with brown ink, break the shiny aspect of the beard with brown ink too, cut a lot of the beard, and weathered the boots and pants. I also gave hime a better pose, more agressive, and you see less of the chainmail that unfortunately have a plastic feeling.
:)

Nice pic! Yeah, I read Michael Crawford's review and this thread pretty closely - not only is ASMUS putting out a great fig but a nice assortment of dwarf axes. Weathering looks great - am sure I'm gonna work with him. Still, even out of the box the pics I see are impressive.

dwalin! Dwalin!! Dwalin!!!

For me Dwalin would be instant PO. ASMUS should do a dual head sculpt w. the mohawk Dwalin from the AUJ battle flashback. And those AXES. I need Dwalin, Precioussssssss.......:drool

Sassafras, you are my friend. Couldn't agree with you more. ASMUS, listen to this man - he is wise . . . :lecture

LOL ASMUS should listen to me, I think I am lined up to spend more w. ASMUS than with HT in the coming months. Guess it's not *economically viable" to just make "slim" versions of the other dwarves:( - really slim, like just sculpts and bodies in a simple tunic and sell to customizers to costume. Just a thought.

I really NEED a Dwalin tho.:drool:drool:drool. (Bilbo's bathrobe would be nice too, could do the Bilbo-meets-Dwalin scene...:lol)

If I had $$$$ I'd just get a lot of Gimlis and make a little dwarf army (and I wish ASMUS would do Dain, too).

To all you brave souls who loved dwarfs,
we will think about more dwarfs for sure~

Personally, one vote to Dain.

Ironfoot after Thorin, but even before that please dust off the Thranduil molds and crank a few more out.

Was Ironfoot totally CGI? that looks like game CG content, not a multi million dollar film.

Sadly yes. They did shoot scenes with Billy Connolly but due to the weight of the armour and his Parkinsons he couldn't deliver properly I believe. The theatrical release had shocking unfinished CGI but they fixed it for the home release so he looks more believable. I think there's a few close up shots that are still him though.

Congratulations Asmus, this might be your best piece as of yet.
Minor things to watch out for, the rubber loops to attach the axes is super tough, and will scratch the paint, I tried to widen it before adding the other axes. Slightly broke one.

Removed his neck and one of the pegs, I put his neck connector inside his head and connected it to his torso directly. Made his proportions more stocky and dwarvish

Repainted his face a bit, to give him more highlights and shadows , with oil pastels. I plan on eventually making a diorama for him, and also, giving him some fuzzy beard , but thats all easy ;)

Real glad I have him on order.

I've had him on order at Asmus since April and still waiting to get mine. Supposedly it finally shipped last month but nothing yet. :(
