For some reason I?ve felt like this figure would look really good in a sitting, pondering pose. Not unlike trying to think which way to go in Moria.

Maybe his pipe up to his mouth, hunched over, eyes posed up, hair hanging down a bit. Might be a bit boring to some but that?s what keeps coming back to me and I just rewatched all 6 films last week.

Thats the pose i'm going for as well. Eyes either looking up or to the side... whatever gives him the "pondering look" better. Maybe semi crossed arm with pipe while staff dangling / cradled on the elbow.

I can’t wait to have this figure in hand!

As for the hat - there has to be a way to make it work while on?

You’ll see when you get it but the specs for producing it have it measured for sewing just a skosh off. It sits too high. It also has a magnet on the inside of the fabric that orients to the N-S poles on the magnet on the head joint on the body. There’s foam rubber up inside the main body of the hat as well. I don’t see how it gets fixed without removing the fabric that they sewed in to the opening on the inside and removing that magnet and perhaps a bit of the foam rubber. It’s moddable but I may wait for someone to put out a DIY YT video on it before I try tackling it myself.

Interesting, I might have a go at that today because the steps up to Bilbo’s door that the stand replicates might be high enough to seat him on. If not then one would need some other diorama that allows him to sit.

Another thought about the hat: Asmus has to make a profit and this is a labor intensive figure for sure, what with the lambs wool rooted hair. So even if the only way they can move forward is to sell a replacement hat, I would buy it if they sold one that works. In a perfect world they should send a replacement, but as long as it’s reasonably priced if I have to buy one, I would.

I have a custom Moria Base I've been using for my Frodo, but I think Ill be giving it to Gandalf here. Gandalfs base will go to Bilbo.

Really can't wait to get this. And speaking of which my Tracking for mine has not updated since its initial scan on the 8th....

Please do! I’d very much like to see that as I probably won’t be looking at doing that with my own until Q4 by the sounds of it.

The proportions seem... odd to me.

Arguably his legs might be a little longer perhaps to give an illusion of greater height. He seems tallest in the movie but he’s actually same height as Vigo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom. The hat of course helps create that perception, but even in scenes not wearing the wizard hat he looks tallest among them. At any rate, Ian McKellan is 5’ 11’’. And honestly the figure matches what I see here irl for the actor:

I wouldn't be too fussed with the real actors height in this scenario. I mean Jonathan Rys Davis is the tallest actor at 6'5" yet he portrayed as a dwarf in the films.
