They soundly rejected initial distribution offers from Asmus

I guess that makes sense since this is a pretty new company without a long track record I can understand them being hesitant. Plus they pretty much made a firm stance with being done with 1/6 Lord of the Rings so they probably do not believe the line can be successful. Looks like they let the 1/6 liscence go (or expire) and it does not look like they even pursued the Hobbit.

I'm thinking that if LOTR line continues for the 5 years and is even remotely successful, Asmus will officially be ON THE MAP. If the first 5 figures sell out or even sell well, they may start to hire more artists and pursue the Hobbit line.

One can hope anyway...

Any competition for Hot Toys is welcome...more selection and more product is ALWAYS a welcome addition!

AMEN to that! :lecture

I would be so satisfied to see a new LotR 1/6 line from a small but daring company succeed were all the big players couldn't be bothered.

Kind of like Frodo and Sam taking the ring all the way to Mount Doom while the great heroes of the day couldn't do it. :monkey3

Love the pics. IMO looks much better than the Weta one (which I owned at one time)..

Right, Asmus is our new Ringbearer! :lol

Wow...$139.99...a GREAT price for this highly detailed figure. I also noticed the other day the computer graphics use on the Morgul Lord...perhaps a 3-D printer is finally being put to use on some of these products to help reduce the cost.
