That Prisma image is gorgeous!

But it's simultaneously exciting and depressing to me. Exciting because, come on, that's a cool-ass image!

But depressing because that kind of technology negates the need for humans to spend years and effort learning artistic skill. I don't mean this photo specifically! I'm referring to the impact tech is having on the artistic process in general. I guess I'm a Luddite, and nothing I can say will have any effect on the march of technical progress, but the loss of the human touch makes me sad. There are some places I just wish technology wouldn't go. :monkey2

In some ways I agree with you but as an artist myself and one who has wholly embraced the digital tool set, it gives us that many more things we can do and bring our images/sculpts to an entirely different realm. Artists are still absolutely essential (without them, you would not have that base sculpt which is then photographed, and then processed).

Oh, I get it. And I realize I'm just an old man yelling at the kids on my lawn. Of course there's no putting this particular genie back in the bottle, but as a life-long amateur artist myself, stuff like this just makes me a little wistful for simpler times when the toolkit was a little more tactile and analog.

Oh I totally agree, an app is no replacement for a true artist.... I wish I could draw the mouth of sauron to look as cool as the app but I can't :( im a grumpy old man too hahaha

Finally got him in today. Absolutely stunning. Only problem I have is that this is my wife's and not mine... But that's okay! It's her first high end 1/6 figure. Totally ridiculous to admit this, but one of the more stressful things I've witnessed was her opening the box and accessories. She didn't mess it up or anything, just watching someone open a figure differently than you do... It's maddening.

Glad you like him . He's awesome !

More pictures of this beast of a figure ! I really wish I had the time and talent to photograph this guy the right way . I'm sorry for the poor photos .

Just picked this baby up at NYCC (with a nice discount)! Can't wait to shoot it!

They're SELLING him at the show?! The booth looked so small I assumed there was no room for stock! I'm gonna go back tomorrow to see Sam and Frodo anyway. What kind of discount are they giving?

No Asmus isn't - it was a private dealer. But Asmus is handing out $10 coupons.

This thing is such a beast. Gotta be my favorite from the Asmus line so far. I can't wait to reopen him and spend some quality futzing time on him.

Did George ever say what the edition size on this was?
