So I have had the day to futz with this guy and look everything over and I'll give my short review here:

The Good:

As I said last night, the most impressive thing about this figure is the head and metal helm. It's just AWESOME!!! Got nice feel to it and it's very well made. I like the paint on all the armor and weapons too. Very nice.

I also really like the robes and the weathering done on them which is just like the PF weathering so I was happy about that. I did feel that they needed a water treatment because of being stuff in the box so if you do do that, it looks better. Mainly and especially for the robes that hang on his arm. Out of the box they are too stiff and you are unable to get them to sit where you want them. The rest weren't as bad.

The rock base stand is also fantastic. Looks great and is really solid and heavy. I wish HT did this with their bases. Good job on that. I did switch out to a crotch stand though vs the waist grabber that came with it.

The Bad:

So after I water treated the figure I tried getting him in the pose I wanted which was to have his arms out holding up his weapons....couldn't do it. The shoulders on mine just don't have the strength to hold anything up. They barely stay up on their own. I was disappointed. Also, the wrist pegs are real loose as well.

SO...I decided to strip him after some thinking. Originally wasn't gonna do so, but I needed to fix this. I stripped his upper body, took off the rubber torso and tried tightening the shoulder joints as tight as I could. Also added some drops of superglue on joints to try to tighten them up. Wrist pegs as well. It worked for the most part and he's now much better, but his shoulders still aren't really strong enough to hold all the different poses one would want to put him in. It's a design flaw of the KP body used here. There just isn't enough support holding the shoulders up. It's the one drawback of the fig. Definitely would like to upgrade the body in the future. I don't have any problems with other joints though. Legs and waist seem fine with me so that's all good. He stands up quite easily. The tape works I guess :lol

For now, I'm happy with the pose though and overall am very satisfied with this fig. Well done Asmus!!!:clap

Nope, it came that way...

Very Strange. Here's mine. It would be nice to look like yours since that's the Movie Accurate look.

He looks awesome, but the loose shoulders and wrist pegs issues have me concerned. Loose joints are my biggest pet peeve in this hobby.

At least for the price of this figure replacing a body is still a viable option when you consider how great the clothing, accessories, and weapons are.

I also think its the choice of body used here especially with the metal weight of the helmet and weapons. They should of fixed this before shipping but personally I can forgive asmus for this with all things considered. If this happens again on a similar figure I will have to rethink my opinion of asmus.

Now that I have this figure in hand I have to say it is even better than the pictures make it look in my opinion. If they can keep up the quality, fix the tape thing and nail the human sculpts (and paint) then I should just have my pay checks directly deposited to Asmus.

Feeling the same way. Well besides the paychecks :lol

For example, I had no intention of wanting to get a Gothmog figure but now that I have this guy in hand I'm kind of thinking about him too. The possibilities with this line is super high and I'm extremely excited about what Asmus is doing here.

Got mine yesterday... and have to say it's was not a fun unboxing. A piece of armor broke (easily fixable though), the arms are pretty short making getting the hands on and off difficult and the body is really loose... no way mine is able to hold up the sword or mace w/o some major work or a body swap.

Other aspects are very nice, but I was fairly annoyed after the armor broke so I just put him back in the box for now. I think I'll end up being happy with this one, it just needs more work than it should upon opening.

Oh, and don't care for the poseable hands. A nice idea, but the look pretty bad in person and will stay in the box :lol

First time I seen the picture of them I said I hated them.

Well I was about to go cancel this preorder at BBTS, not bc I want to, but bc I have to pay an exterminator today and need new tires soon, so I was just gonna buy it later on, and turns out I was a day too late. BBTS has them in stock and my preorder is already processing. So yay! But also, ah ****.

Had a chance to mess about with this guy. I'm going to shoot pics maybe tomorrow but for now thought I would share some thoughts.
First thing this is a pretty amazing figure for the cost. Licensed with lots of stuff that is pretty well produced for $150ish is a feat unto itself. So bravo Asmus.

This figure is a train wreck out of the box. There is so much fabric going everywhere that I was a taken aback. This figure is not for the collectors that takes them out of the box , do a little posing and then call it a day. This thing needs some commitment and posing skills. First thing I did was set it in the shower and let the water work its way into all the layers because there are a lot. Once everything is wet the figure truly takes shape. All the layers lat down and you can see an amazing piece.
In regards to the body, I feel bad for Asmus. They get this body and its crap. The tape helps the major joints but the ankles and wrists on mine are truly floppy. Even without metal parts this thing is doomed. I would be pissed if I started my first run with these bad bodies from the manufacturer.
Enough for now but with a little time, this figure is going look amazing.
