Exactly my thought after watching the trailer. This appears to be a remake of the first one. But wetter.

Yeah, looks like it hits the same beats as the first, but with Jake's kids instead.
Yes, it was the first Top Gun installment to copy and paste the Rebels attack the Death Star plot from Star Wars. I guess that could be considered "new".Gotta love the hyperbole... was was it? "The Movie Event of a Generation"?
I'm not sure if I want to pay to see this in the theatres. Just doesn't even begin to interest me. As everyone's been pointing out, it just seems to be the same story, only wet. I wish we could still get sequels that actually brought something new to the story, instead of just being the same story with some new flashy things... you know, stuff like Empire Strikes Back, Road Warrior, The Godfather Part II, hell, even Top Gun Maverick brings something new to the story!
Because in this one Cameron tacked on a scene where Jake's avatar (looking eerily like Joaquin Phoenix) uses a baseball bat to break glasses filled with water in order to kill all of the bad guys....Why was Avatar 1 retitled Avatar Way of the Water?
The first official review is in by the famed director Guillermo Del Toro who said:
“A staggering achievement,” is chockfull of majestic Vistas and emotions at an epic, epic scale. A master at the peak of his powers…”
FYI they are great friends lol
I thought he produced alita? IdkCameron hasn't been to the movies since 2009.
